You can’t enter Menaphos in Old School RuneScape (OSRS): its gates remain closed. For the nearby Menaphos-related story content, travel to the Necropolis southeast of Sophanem by starting Beneath Cursed Sands.
Can you enter Menaphos in OSRS?
No. Menaphos is not currently accessible to players in OSRS, and crossing the bridge does not let you enter the city. Jagex stated in its Tombs of Amascut: Raid Rewards update, reproduced on the OSRS Wiki, “Menaphos will not be opening its gates just yet.” That update is evidence of the city’s closed status at the time; it does not give a date for future access.

The Necropolis, not Menaphos itself, is the nearby playable destination connected to this story content. Access it through Beneath Cursed Sands.

To start Beneath Cursed Sands, you must complete Contact! and have 62 Agility, 55 Crafting, and 55 Firemaking. The three skill levels are not boostable. Contact! requires Prince Ali Rescue and Icthlarin’s Little Helper; the latter requires Gertrude’s Cat. The OSRS Wiki quest guide lists a coal, an iron bar, a tinderbox, a spade, and cooked or raw meat among the quest items; some can be obtained during the quest.

Start the quest and follow its route
- Go to Sophanem and speak with Jamila to start Beneath Cursed Sands.
- Follow the quest instructions to meet Maisa at the campsite east of Sophanem.
- Continue the quest route to reach the Necropolis.
Prepare for desert heat and poison, and bring food and combat gear as appropriate for your character. The quest guide also lists a Pharaoh’s sceptre, fairy ring access via AKP with a Dramen staff, and a way to teleport to Nardah as optional travel aids. These help with the surrounding quest or region; none opens Menaphos.
Returning to the Necropolis
After you reach the Necropolis, commune with the obelisk near the mine while carrying a Pharaoh’s sceptre. This enables the sceptre’s Jaltevas teleport for later trips. It teleports you to the Necropolis, not into Menaphos.
