If you forgot your Yahoo password, use Yahoo’s official Sign-in Helper. Enter the recovery email address or choose the recovery-phone option, select Next, and complete the identity checks Yahoo displays. Once access returns, create a strong password that you do not use anywhere else. If you are still signed in to Yahoo Mail on a phone, you can change the password from the app without signing out first.
Recover a forgotten Yahoo password with Sign-in Helper
Yahoo’s Sign-in Helper is the normal route for resetting a forgotten password. It checks a recovery email address or mobile number already attached to the account and then sends the verification step Yahoo considers appropriate. The exact screen can vary according to the recovery information available, your device, and Yahoo’s current security checks.

- Open Yahoo Sign-in Helper from Yahoo Help. Start from Yahoo’s own help and sign-in pages rather than a search advertisement or an unfamiliar recovery website.
- Enter a recovery item. Type the recovery email address linked to the Yahoo account. If you do not have that email address available, select Use recovery phone number and enter the linked mobile number.
- Select Next. Yahoo will show the verification method available for that account. Follow every instruction on screen and enter the code or other information exactly as requested.
- Set a replacement password. Choose a password that is unique to Yahoo. Do not reuse the old password or a password used for email, gaming, social networks, banking, or any other service.
- Sign in again on your devices. Phones, mail apps, browsers, and desktop programs may ask for the new password the next time they connect.
If Yahoo cannot offer a recovery method you can use, do not keep guessing passwords. Repeated failed attempts can trigger a temporary lock, and guessing does not create a new recovery option.

What you need before starting
Recovery is easiest when you can use at least one contact method that Yahoo already has on file. The table below shows what each situation normally allows.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android.You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
| Situation | What to try | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Forgotten password, recovery email available | Enter the recovery email in Sign-in Helper | Yahoo sends the next verification instruction to that email |
| Forgotten password, recovery phone available | Select Use recovery phone number | Yahoo uses the number attached to the account for verification |
| Forgotten Yahoo ID | Enter an available recovery email or phone in Sign-in Helper | Yahoo’s prompts can help locate the ID before you reset the password |
| Already signed in on Yahoo’s mobile app | Open the profile menu, then Account Info (or Account in Yahoo Mail) > Security > Change password | You can replace the password from the existing signed-in session |
| Recovery email and phone both unavailable | Try Sign-in Helper with any recovery item still accessible | Yahoo may be unable to verify ownership; it says a new account may be necessary |
A recovery contact is not the same as an address or number you used years ago. Yahoo can send a code only to the recovery information currently associated with the account. If a number was replaced, an email account was closed, or the contact was removed, that old item may not help.
If you forgot your Yahoo ID as well as the password
You do not need to remember the complete Yahoo ID before starting. Open Sign-in Helper and enter an available recovery email address or choose the recovery-phone option. Follow the prompts Yahoo provides to identify the account connected to that recovery item. After the ID is located, continue through the password-reset steps.
Try likely recovery addresses one at a time if you have more than one. Check spelling carefully, including dots, numbers, and the domain of the recovery mailbox. A recovery address that belongs to a different Yahoo account will not identify the account you want.

If Yahoo Mail is already open and working on your phone, changing the password inside the app can be simpler than starting a new recovery session.
- Open the Yahoo app and open the profile menu.
- Select Account Info. In Yahoo Mail, the label may appear as Account.
- Open Security.
- Select Change password and follow the prompts to create the replacement.
- Save the new password in a password manager or another secure place before leaving the page.
Changing the password can sign other devices out or make their saved credentials invalid. That is expected: update each mail app or browser with the new password rather than repeatedly trying the old one.

- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Can you recover Yahoo without the old phone number?
Yes, if another usable recovery method is attached to the account. In Sign-in Helper, enter the recovery email address instead of choosing the phone option. Yahoo can send a recovery code or link to an accessible recovery contact.
If the old number was the only recovery method and you cannot receive messages on it, look for a recovery email option on the verification screen. If no accessible method is offered, Yahoo’s support guidance says the account may not be recoverable because it cannot verify that you are the owner. There is no legitimate setting that bypasses this ownership check.

Why Yahoo may refuse a normal sign-in
A failed sign-in does not always mean the password is wrong. Work through these checks before starting another reset.
Check Caps Lock, Num Lock, and the keyboard layout
Caps Lock changes letters to uppercase, while Num Lock can change what some keys enter. Yahoo specifically lists these keys as common reasons a password appears not to work. Turn them off, click in the password field, and type slowly. If your keyboard has a language or layout switch, confirm that it is using the layout you expect.

Check for a saved password
If you previously signed in successfully, your browser may have stored the credential. Open the browser’s settings, go to its saved-password or autofill section, and look for the Yahoo entry. You may need to unlock the browser’s password list with your computer or phone passcode before it reveals a saved value.
Compare the saved entry with the account you are trying to use. Browsers can store more than one Yahoo account, and an old saved password may no longer be valid. Use a saved password only as a clue; if it fails, return to Sign-in Helper instead of repeatedly submitting it.
Try another supported browser or device
A browser extension, corrupted site data, or a temporary browser problem can interfere with sign-in. Try Yahoo in another current browser or on another trusted device. If the second browser works, the account is probably accessible and the issue is local to the first browser.
Clear cookies and restart when the page loops
If Yahoo keeps returning you to the sign-in screen, clear the browser’s cookies and cached site data for Yahoo, close every Yahoo tab, and restart the browser. Then open a fresh Yahoo sign-in page and try again. A private window can also help determine whether an extension or old cookie is involved. If private browsing works, disable extensions one at a time in the normal window and retry.
Check whether someone changed the password
If your old password stopped working unexpectedly, use Sign-in Helper rather than attempting many guesses. After you get back in, review account settings for changes you did not make, including the recovery email address, mobile number, connected devices, and any other security details Yahoo exposes. Remove unfamiliar information and change the password again if anything looks wrong.

What to do after too many failed attempts
Yahoo can temporarily lock an account after too many unsuccessful sign-in attempts. Yahoo’s current support guidance says the automatic unlock period is 12 hours. Waiting for that period can restore ordinary sign-in, but Sign-in Helper may restore access sooner if Yahoo can verify you.
- Stop submitting passwords while the account is locked.
- Open Sign-in Helper and try the recovery email or phone method once.
- If verification succeeds, set a new unique password and use it on each device.
- If verification is unavailable, wait for the stated lock period before trying a normal sign-in again.
Repeated attempts from several devices or networks can make troubleshooting harder because each device may continue sending the old password. Update stored credentials only after the reset succeeds.
When Yahoo has no recovery information you can use
Recovery email addresses and mobile numbers are the channels Yahoo uses to deliver a recovery code or link. If both are outdated, inaccessible, or missing, Sign-in Helper may not be able to establish ownership. Yahoo’s guidance says that, in this situation, you may need to create a new account.
Before giving up, check whether:
- the recovery email is still signed in on another browser or phone;
- the mobile number can still receive text messages through your carrier;
- you entered the recovery address or number exactly as it was saved;
- you are trying the correct Yahoo ID rather than a similar account; and
- a Yahoo mobile app remains signed in somewhere, allowing you to update security settings from inside the account.
Do not pay a person or website that promises to bypass Yahoo’s verification. Yahoo’s own recovery process is the only route that can confirm account ownership, and an outsider who asks for your password or code can take control of the account.

Is Yahoo password recovery safe?
Using Sign-in Helper is safer than entering credentials into a third-party “Yahoo recovery” page because the process stays within Yahoo’s account system. Check the address bar before entering a password or code, and avoid links in unsolicited messages. Yahoo will not need you to publish a code in a forum or send it to a stranger.

Never share:
- your current or replacement password;
- a one-time verification code;
- the full recovery email or phone details when someone is asking for them unexpectedly; or
- screenshots that reveal recovery messages or account security information.
If you received an unexpected password-reset message, do not follow its embedded link. Open Yahoo Help or the Yahoo sign-in page yourself and start Sign-in Helper there. An unexpected message can be a legitimate security alert, a delayed notification, or a phishing attempt; starting from Yahoo directly avoids relying on the message.
Secure the account immediately after recovery
Create a password used nowhere else
Yahoo recommends a unique password. A long passphrase made from unrelated words, mixed with numbers or symbols where appropriate, is easier to manage than a short password reused across sites. A password manager can generate and store a different password for Yahoo, but protect the manager itself with a strong master credential.
Turn on two-step verification
After access is restored, open Yahoo’s security settings and enable two-step verification if it is offered for your account. This adds a second check after the password and can limit damage if the password is exposed.
Update recovery contacts
Confirm that the recovery email and mobile number are current and accessible. Yahoo says these contacts can also receive notifications about account changes, so an accurate contact gives you an early warning if security settings are altered.
Review account activity and connected access
Look through the security or account pages for unfamiliar devices, sessions, or changes. Sign out of devices you no longer use, remove unknown entries, and update the password again if you see activity you cannot explain.
A quick decision path for common recovery scenarios
| Your situation | Best first action | If that fails |
|---|---|---|
| You know the Yahoo ID but forgot the password | Use Sign-in Helper with the recovery email or phone | Check browser-saved passwords, then try another browser |
| You forgot both ID and password | Enter an available recovery item in Sign-in Helper to locate the ID | Try each recovery item carefully and check for spelling errors |
| You are signed in on a Yahoo mobile app | Profile menu > Account Info/Account > Security > Change password | Use Sign-in Helper from another device if the app requests verification |
| Your old phone is unavailable | Choose the recovery-email route | If no accessible method appears, Yahoo may be unable to verify ownership |
| The account is temporarily locked | Use Sign-in Helper once | Wait up to 12 hours for automatic unlocking if verification cannot complete |
| The sign-in page loops | Clear Yahoo cookies, restart the browser, and try a fresh sign-in page | Use another supported browser or device |
The practical sequence is simple: identify an available recovery contact, use Sign-in Helper, complete Yahoo’s verification, set a unique password, and then update security information while you still have access. If no recovery contact or signed-in session remains, Yahoo may not have enough information to restore the account.
