To redeem a current Fortnite Gift Card, scan its QR code or open Epic’s gift-card redemption page, sign in to the Epic Games account you want credited, verify the account and currency, then select Redeem now. The value goes to your Epic account balance—not directly to a PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo store wallet. Older V-Bucks cards use a different process, so check which kind of card you have before starting.
First, identify which Fortnite card you have
Epic is replacing V-Bucks cards with Fortnite Gift Cards, although older V-Bucks cards may still be sold in some regions and stores during the transition. The two cards are not interchangeable:

| Card type | What redemption adds | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Fortnite Gift Card | Funds in Epic account balance, usable for eligible Epic purchases | Epic’s gift-card redemption flow |
| V-Bucks card | The stated amount of V-Bucks | Epic’s separate V-Bucks Card page |
Read the card’s label before following the steps. A current gift card does not ask you to choose a console destination for V-Bucks; a legacy V-Bucks card may.
Redeem a current Fortnite Gift Card
- Open the redemption flow. Scan the QR code on the back of the card and choose Redeem. If you cannot scan it, visit Epic’s gift-card redemption page and enter the PIN. For a card with no printed code, check the retailer receipt.
- Sign in to the right account. Use the Epic Games account—or the console account associated with it—that you want to receive the balance.
- Check the account information. Confirm that the displayed account is the one you use for Fortnite before continuing.
- Link accounts if prompted. Follow the page’s prompts to connect any additional accounts it requests.
- Review and redeem. Check the transaction details, then select Redeem now to add the funds to your Epic account balance.
Epic’s page wording or prompts may change; follow the current instructions shown there. There is no separate gift-card PIN interface for every device: the key is redeeming through the Epic account that should receive the funds.

What changes by platform—and what does not
For the current Fortnite Gift Card, the important choices are the correct Epic account and matching currency, not a platform-specific destination. How you can spend the resulting balance depends on where Epic account balance is accepted and on platform restrictions. In particular, Epic says V-Bucks bought with Epic account balance cannot be used on Nintendo Switch through Shared Wallet. They can be spent in Fortnite’s web Item Shop or on another connected Shared Wallet platform, including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile, or cloud gaming. Items purchased with V-Bucks are available across platforms connected to the Epic account.
For a legacy V-Bucks card, platform selection matters. The Epic redemption flow completes redemption for PC, Switch, or mobile. For Xbox or PlayStation, Epic generates a second code that you must redeem through the linked Microsoft or Sony account.

Check account, region, and currency before redeeming
- Account: Sign in to the Epic account you actually use for Fortnite, and verify its displayed information before continuing.
- Currency for a Fortnite Gift Card: The card’s currency must match the currency of the Epic account balance. Check this before redeeming, because the value is credited to that account.
- Region for a legacy V-Bucks card: Epic’s territory troubleshooting says the country or region where the card was purchased should match the country or region on the Epic account.
- Receipt: Keep the purchase receipt in case Epic Support needs it, especially if the code is missing or redemption fails.
Gift-card availability and supported currencies vary and can change. Check the current supported-region and currency information on Epic’s gift-card page rather than relying on a region list that may become outdated.
Redeem an older V-Bucks card on Xbox or PlayStation
- Complete the V-Bucks card redemption in Epic’s flow and select the linked Xbox or PlayStation account.
- Retrieve the generated code. Epic says it is also emailed and can be found in Epic account settings under Transactions → V-Bucks Card Redemption.
- Sign in to the Microsoft or Sony account linked to the Epic account and enter the code there. Epic says the Xbox code is 25 characters and the PlayStation code is 12 characters.
- If the platform rejects it, verify that you are signed in to the correct linked account and enter the characters exactly as displayed. If it still fails, contact Microsoft or Sony support: that platform processes the secondary code.
These additional platform codes apply to the legacy V-Bucks-card flow, not the current Fortnite Gift Card balance flow.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Why purchased V-Bucks may not appear on Nintendo Switch
Epic’s Shared Wallet guidance distinguishes purchased V-Bucks from V-Bucks earned in Fortnite. Nintendo Switch does not share purchased V-Bucks with other platforms, and V-Bucks purchased on Switch cannot be used in Fortnite’s web shop. Purchased V-Bucks from most other listed platforms are shared among Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Android, with a stated exception for PC purchases in Korea. V-Bucks earned through Fortnite Passes, Quest Packs, or Save the World are shared across platforms. As a result, the purchased and earned totals can differ on Switch. Items bought with V-Bucks remain available on platforms connected to the Fortnite account.

Epic says Fortnite Gift Card balance can fund eligible purchases including V-Bucks, Fortnite Crew, packs, Epic Games Store games and add-ons, and Fab creator content. Restrictions depend on the account and purchase. Split payment is not supported for subscriptions such as Fortnite Crew. Check the current Epic gift-card terms for eligible purchases and any regional limits before buying or redeeming.
