How to Redeem a PSN Gift Card on PlayStation Store or PS5

To “activate” a PlayStation gift card, redeem its 12-digit voucher code on the PlayStation account that should receive the funds or content. You can do this on the PlayStation Store website or on PS5. Before entering the code, check that the voucher’s country or region matches the account: Sony says voucher codes from another region cannot be redeemed, and an account’s region cannot be changed after it is created.

Before you redeem the gift card

Sign in to the right account. Voucher codes are single-use, and Sony says funds or content cannot be transferred between accounts.
Match the voucher region to the account region. A physical voucher may display a flag indicating its region. Sony’s US account guide explains how to check an account’s country or region: check your PlayStation account’s country/region.
Check what the code provides. A wallet top-up adds funds to the account’s PlayStation Store wallet; a code for specific content or a subscription provides that item or benefit instead.

If you are buying a PlayStation Store gift card for someone else, confirm the card’s country or region matches the recipient’s account before purchase.

How to redeem a PSN gift card online

Sign in to the PlayStation account that should receive the credit or content.
Open PlayStation Store and select the profile icon.
Choose Redeem Code.
Enter the voucher’s 12-digit code carefully, then continue to redeem it.

How to redeem a gift card on PS5

Open PlayStation Store on your PS5.
Press Triangle, then choose … (More) > Redeem Code.
Enter the 12-digit code and select Redeem.
If the code is for downloadable content, choose Download to install it now, or download it later from your library.

Where wallet funds go—and who can use them

A wallet top-up adds money to the PlayStation Store wallet on the account where the code is redeemed. Wallet funds are applied first at checkout; if they do not cover the whole purchase, another payment method can cover the remainder. Child accounts do not have their own wallet. A child account cannot add funds or redeem a wallet top-up voucher. Purchases by a child account use the family manager’s wallet within the spending limit.
Wallet funds cannot be refunded. Check the amount and the account before redeeming.
Wallet credit stays with the account. It cannot be moved to another account after redemption.

What to do if the code does not work

Recheck the digits. PlayStation Store voucher codes have 12 digits. Enter them again carefully.
Check validity and expiry. Look for an expiry date on the voucher and confirm it has not passed.
Verify the region. The voucher’s country or region must match the PlayStation account. An account’s region cannot be changed after account creation.
Check purchase-time activation. Some physical vouchers need to be activated by the retailer at checkout. If a new card is rejected, keep the receipt and ask the retailer to confirm activation.
Check the account type. A child account cannot redeem a wallet top-up code.
Check whether it was already redeemed. Review transaction history and, for content, the account’s library. If purchased content does not appear, sign out and back in or restart the console.
Contact PlayStation Support if the issue remains. Be ready to provide the purchase date and retailer details; Sony may ask for proof of purchase and images of the voucher. Start with Sony’s UK troubleshooting guidance: problems using PlayStation Store voucher codes.

Check the balance or find redeemed content

For wallet funds, check the account’s wallet balance through Payment Management online or the account and payment menus on the relevant console. For a code that provides content, look in the account’s library or content area. The code applies to the account on which it was redeemed, so make sure you are viewing that same account.

Sony’s linked redemption instructions cover the website and PS5. They do not provide a complete current walkthrough for every older console or the PlayStation app, so menu names and availability on those interfaces should not be assumed from these steps. Sony’s US wallet guide separately documents adding funds on PS4; that is a wallet-funding flow, not a different method for redeeming a voucher code.
