To relink an EA Account to Xbox, first check which EA Account is connected, then recover that account if it contains your progress. Only unlink it if you understand the risks and EA says the account is eligible. After unlinking, open an EA game on Xbox and sign in to the EA Account you want to use.
Check which EA Account is linked to your Xbox
- Sign in to the EA Account you think is connected to your Xbox profile.
- Open Connected Accounts and check whether your Xbox account appears.
- If it does not, check your other likely EA Accounts before creating a new one. EA allows only one EA Account to be connected to a platform at a time.
If the linked EA Account holds your game progress or purchases, try to regain access to that account before making a change. EA says progress cannot be moved from one EA Account to another. See EA’s lost-progress guidance.
Recover the original account when possible
If you cannot sign in to the linked EA Account, try EA’s account recovery and password-reset steps first. If a reset does not resolve an invalid- or ineligible-account error, contact EA Help for linking issues. Have the EA email address and connected platform ID, such as your Xbox gamertag, available when contacting support.
Understand the eligibility limits before unlinking
EA’s current account-linking instructions say account switching is limited to up to three times in a rolling year. EA’s troubleshooting guidance says that if the platform link was made less than one year ago, you cannot unlink and relink it to a different account yet; if it was made more than one year ago, a different link should be possible. Check the eligibility shown in your own Connected Accounts settings, since a disabled Unlink control means EA is not allowing a relink at that time.

Unlink the Xbox account and connect the account you want
Proceed only if you have confirmed the linked account and accept the possible loss of access to its game-related entitlements.

- Sign in to the EA Account currently linked to the Xbox profile and open Connected Accounts.
- Select Unlink beside the Xbox account, review EA’s warning, and complete any identity verification requested.
- On Xbox, launch an EA game and sign in with the desired primary EA Account.
- When prompted, enter the one-time verification code EA sends to the email address on that EA Account.
- Return to Connected Accounts and confirm the Xbox profile appears under the intended EA Account.
EA says using the same email address for the EA and console accounts may connect them automatically when the game loads. Follow the console prompt and verify the result in Connected Accounts.

Unlinking does not transfer progress. EA warns that it can remove access to game progress, downloadable content and expansions, memberships or subscriptions, previous drops and rewards, and in-game purchases. Rewards, points, and items may remain with the EA Account the platform was first linked to. EA’s unlinking instructions explain these risks.

If your concern is lost progress, the safer route is to recover the EA Account that contains it and reconnect your Xbox profile to that account if EA allows it. EA says it cannot move progress between EA Accounts. Apex Legends has an additional game-specific caveat: unlinking removes access to progress, the cross-progression merge included only accounts linked at the time, and that merge happens only once. See EA’s lost-progress guidance.

If relinking does not work
- The wrong EA Account appears: Sign in to each likely EA Account and inspect Connected Accounts. EA cannot link one EA Account to two platform identities of the same type.
- You cannot access the old email or EA Account: Use account recovery or a password reset, then contact EA Help if you remain locked out.
- You see an invalid- or ineligible-account error: Reset the EA Account password, check that it is not locked, banned, or suspended, and confirm EA’s link-age limits allow a change.
- Unlink is disabled: EA indicates the account is not eligible to relink at that time. Do not keep unlinking; use EA’s recovery or support guidance.
- You are playing on a shared-subscription child profile: Switch to an eligible Xbox account; EA says sub-accounts cannot connect for online play.
