Both controllers let you save button mappings and switch between configurations, but they use different apps and on-controller shortcuts. On PS5, set up the DualSense Edge under Settings > Accessories and switch profiles with Fn plus a face button. For the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, configure it in the Xbox Accessories app and use its physical Profile button to switch.
Remap buttons and create a profile on DualSense Edge for PS5
- From the PS5 home screen, open Settings > Accessories.
- Select DualSense Edge Wireless Controller > Custom Profiles.
- Choose Create Custom Profile, enter a name, then select OK.
- Choose Customize Button Assignments. Select the button you want to change, then choose its new function. Select Disable if you want that button to send no input.
- Select Apply to save the changes. Repeat for other buttons or profile settings as needed.

Switch profiles during play
Hold Fn and press the face button assigned to the profile. Fn + Triangle selects the Default profile; the other three face-button shortcuts can be assigned to custom profiles. See Sony’s profile instructions for the button shortcut details.
Configure DualSense Edge profiles on Windows PC
- Connect the controller to the PC and open Sony’s PlayStation Accessories app.
- Select an existing profile or create a new one. For a new profile, enter a name and assign a shortcut.
- To remap a control, select the button, choose its new function or Disable, then select Apply.
- Adjust any other profile settings you want, select Apply after edits, then select Done.
Sony’s Windows PC guide says the controller can store up to four profiles including Default, and that saved profiles remain available when using the controller with another computer or mobile device.

Other settings in a DualSense Edge profile
Profiles can include stick sensitivity and deadzones, trigger deadzones, vibration intensity, and trigger-effect intensity, in addition to button assignments. Trigger effects work only in games that support them; Sony also notes that trigger-deadzone settings can affect whether an effect works. The available configuration options are described in Sony’s PlayStation Accessories app guide.
Configure and switch Xbox Elite Series 2 profiles
- Open the Xbox Accessories app on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Windows 10/11.
- Select the connected Elite Series 2, then edit its button mapping and profile settings in the app.
- Save the configuration in the app.
- Use the controller’s physical Profile button to switch between stored configurations.
Microsoft’s Elite Series 2 product page confirms app configuration, button mapping, and profile switching. Microsoft documents up to three custom profiles plus one default profile stored on the controller. The available source does not establish a current screen-by-screen sequence or exact app menu labels, so these steps stay at the documented level.

The controller also has adjustable thumbstick tension, trigger locks, and interchangeable hardware; those are physical customization options, not prerequisites for remapping buttons.

Xbox Accessories also supports assigning keyboard keys to Elite Series 2 buttons. Microsoft cautions that games must support keyboard input for this mapping to work, and keyboard mapping over Bluetooth on PC is unsupported. This is an optional feature, separate from ordinary controller button remapping; see Microsoft’s Elite controller configuration support page.

Controller profiles versus in-game remapping
These steps change controller-level settings saved to the controller; they are not instructions for a game’s own control-remapping menu. A game may offer separate in-game assignments, and its options can differ from the controller profile. If a mapping does not behave as expected, check which layer you changed and whether the game supports the relevant input—especially for keyboard-key assignments on the Elite Series 2.
