You can remove an item from your Roblox avatar, but Roblox’s public consumer instructions do not document a control that permanently deletes an owned item from your account inventory. To stop wearing something, unequip it in the Avatar Editor or set Wear This to No in the app. Removing or disliking an item does not return the Robux spent on it.
Remove an item from your avatar
Unequipping changes what your character is wearing; it does not establish that the item has been erased from your account. Choose the instructions for the device you are using.
In a browser
- Open the Roblox Avatar Editor.
- Select Recent or the category that contains the item, such as hats, hair, or faces.
- Find the item your avatar is wearing and select its highlighted icon to remove it.
- If the avatar preview does not change, select Redraw beneath the avatar image.
Roblox Support’s browser instructions describe removing an item from the avatar this way.
In the Roblox app
- Open the app and go to the avatar or inventory item controls.
- Select the item you want to remove.
- Set Wear This to No.

Does this permanently delete the item from inventory?
Roblox’s cited consumer instructions explain how to remove an item from your avatar, not how to permanently delete an owned item from account inventory. If you need an account-level removal rather than simply taking it off your character, contact Roblox Support to ask whether they can help with your specific item. Do not treat unequipping as proof that ownership has been erased.
Does removing an item refund Robux?
No. Roblox Support states, “At this time, there is not a way to get Robux back once you have made a purchase.” Its guidance includes accidental purchases and items that are lost or unused, including items from the Avatar Shop and experiences. What if the item is broken or not as described?
For an item that malfunctions or differs from its description, contact Roblox Support with your username, the item name, its link, and a detailed explanation of the problem. Roblox’s guidance directs users to report the issue; it does not promise a refund.
Taking off a try-on item is different
If you are only previewing an item rather than removing an owned item from your account, use the control for the try-on flow: on Xbox, press A on the item again; in the mobile try-on flow, tap it again; in a browser, choose Take Off. These actions undo the preview on your avatar; they do not delete an account-owned item or refund a purchase. See Roblox Support’s item and try-on guidance.

If your avatar appears as a grey block
Roblox says that when regional content availability causes a grey-block avatar, trying to equip or unequip an item in the Avatar Editor may remove restricted items. This is a troubleshooting step for that specific situation, not a way to permanently delete inventory items. See Roblox Support’s avatar editor guidance.
