First decide what you mean by “replace”: changing a persistent roster, changing a depth chart or Ultimate Team lineup, or substituting someone during a game. Those are separate actions, and the steps depend on the game and mode. The official instructions cited here cover EA SPORTS College Football 26; check your title, mode, platform, and current controls before following them.
Choose the kind of replacement you need

EA’s College Football 26 product page identifies the game, but the feature instructions below are mode-specific. Do not assume that a Dynasty roster-editing option or an Ultimate Team lineup step applies in another game or mode.
How to edit a roster in College Football 26
In its Dynasty and Team Builder feature overview, EA describes a dedicated roster-editing tab where players can edit player information and skill ratings. Use that feature when your goal is to change editable player details, rather than simply putting a different player into a lineup spot.
The published overview does not establish a universal process for deleting an unavailable player, creating a new player, or adding that player as a replacement in every mode. If that is what you need, verify the options available in your specific mode before making changes.

How to change a College Football Ultimate Team lineup
Ultimate Team has its own lineup workflow. EA Help’s lineup instructions describe these steps:
- Select Lineup.
- Choose the position you want to change.
- Select the current player, then choose another eligible player.
You can also move an eligible player to another position or depth-chart slot. EA says other players shift to fill the positions that become available. These instructions apply to College Football Ultimate Team, not Dynasty roster editing.

How to make an in-game substitution
For a temporary change during a College Football 26 game, EA’s Gameplay Deep Dive describes Dynamic Subs during pre-play:
- During pre-play, press Up on the D-pad to open the interface showing who is on the field.
- Press Left or Right to cycle through players.
This is an on-field substitution, not a permanent roster change. Confirm the controls and feature availability for your platform and current game version.

What if the player is injured, suspended, or missing?
The official instructions above do not establish one universal replacement procedure for every cause of unavailability. A player who is present but not starting may only require a lineup or depth-chart adjustment; a player absent from the roster raises a different question from someone temporarily unable to play. The documented workflows also differ by mode.
EA notes in its Dynasty and Team Builder overview that redshirting changes only the positions occupied by that player on the depth chart; it does not reset the entire chart. That is a targeted depth-chart effect, not evidence of a general way to remove or replace an unavailable player.

For exact steps, identify the game, mode, platform, and why the player is unavailable. Without those details, a button-by-button answer risks applying the wrong feature or mode.
