What a RimWorld Together player reset does
resetplayer targets one player profile on the server. The documented result is that the selected player’s stored data is reset and the player can reconnect with a fresh state. The available documentation does not provide a field-by-field inventory of what is removed, so treat the operation as a destructive clearing of the player’s saved profile rather than assuming that only one item, character, or setting will change.

This is a player operation, not a world reset. The project’s command list shows resetworld separately for world-related data. Do not use resetworld when the goal is to start one player over; it concerns a broader part of the server’s saved state.
What you need before running the command
Console or administrator access
The command is entered in the server console, not in ordinary RimWorld gameplay or in the player’s chat window. On managed hosting, the documented route is the provider’s control panel followed by its Console tab or equivalent. On a self-hosted installation, use the console attached to your running server process or the administrative interface you configured.

The server-configuration documentation lists deeplist for identifying users and op for granting administrator privileges. If you cannot open the console or issue administrative commands, ask the server owner to perform the reset rather than attempting to change files blindly. Granting operator access is a separate administrative decision; give it only to people you trust.
A confirmed target and a warning to the player
Tell the player which profile you intend to reset and that their previous stored state may no longer be available. Display names can be similar, so identify the account by the Player ID shown by deeplist, not by memory or a nickname alone.

A backup plan
Use your normal server backup process before a destructive reset. The command list includes backupuser and backup, but the available documentation does not specify their arguments or promise that either command can automatically restore a profile after resetplayer. A backup is a precaution, not a guaranteed one-command undo.
The correct server version
Command names and control-panel labels can change as the project and hosting interfaces are updated. The procedure below follows the documented command names; check the command list for the version running on your server if a command is rejected or absent.

Step-by-step: reset one player
- Open the server console. For a managed server, sign in to the hosting control panel and choose Console (the exact menu name can vary). For self-hosting, open the console for the RimWorld Together server process.
- List joined players. Enter
deeplistThis displays players who have joined the server and supplies the identifier needed by the reset command.
- Locate the intended player. Compare the listed name or identifying information with the player who requested the reset. Copy the corresponding Player ID exactly. If more than one entry could match, stop and resolve the identity before proceeding.
- Run the reset. Enter
resetplayer [Player ID]Replace

- Verify the result. Confirm with the player that the reset state is present and that the intended account, rather than another similarly named entry, was affected. If the result is not what you expected, do not repeatedly run the command; review the ID, server instance, and version first.
How to identify the correct Player ID
deeplist is the documented way to obtain the identifier used by resetplayer. Run it in the same server console that hosts the world where the player joined. A list from a different server instance, test environment, or old process can point you to the wrong profile.
- Run
deeplistimmediately before the reset so you are working from current server data. - Match the player’s displayed identity with what they told you, then copy the associated Player ID without changing characters.
- If the target is not listed, confirm that the player has joined this particular server and that you opened the correct console.
- When names are similar, ask the player to confirm their account details before executing the command.
The ID is the safety check that limits the operation to one profile. A mistaken ID can reset a different player, and the available documentation does not describe an undo command.

Managed hosting and self-hosting compared
The reset command itself is the same administrative action, but the way you reach the console and maintain backups depends on how the server is deployed.

Choose the operating model based on who should maintain the process, not on a different reset syntax. In both cases, you still need administrative access, a verified Player ID, and a recovery plan.

The Console option is missing
Check that you opened the server-management panel rather than a general game panel. Managed providers can rename or relocate controls, so look for a live server console or command input. If you administer a self-hosted server, confirm that you are connected to the process that is actually running the world.
deeplist does not run
Verify that the command was entered in the RimWorld Together server console and that your account has administrative access. The configuration documentation identifies deeplist as an administrative tool; it is not a command entered through normal gameplay. If the command still fails, compare the command list for your installed server version before trying alternatives.

The player cannot be identified
Run deeplist again and check that the target has joined the same server instance. Do not select an entry solely because its display name looks familiar. If the player has never connected to this server, there may be no joined-player record for the command to identify.
The reset command is rejected
Check the spelling and use the documented lowercase form:
resetplayer [Player ID]Replace the bracketed notation with the copied ID, and ensure there are no extra characters. A rejection can also indicate insufficient permissions or a command change in the server version. Confirm those two possibilities before repeating the operation.
The wrong kind of data was affected
If you intended to reset one player but used resetworld, stop and assess the server state before issuing more commands. resetworld is listed separately for world-related data and is not a substitute for resetplayer. The two commands should be treated as different scopes of operation.

The player reconnects but the result is unexpected
First confirm that the command was run on the correct server and that the intended Player ID was used. The documentation establishes that a successful reset permits a fresh-state reconnect, but it does not define every profile field or guarantee a particular visual outcome. Review your backup and server logs according to your normal operating procedure rather than running another reset speculatively.

If you reset the wrong player
There is no documented undo command or guaranteed restore path for resetplayer. Preserve the current server state, identify the affected Player ID, and use whatever backup and restore procedure your deployment normally supports. The presence of backupuser and backup in the command list does not, by itself, establish that a previous profile can be restored automatically.
How to reduce the chance of an accidental reset
- Ask the player to state the account or identity they expect you to reset.
- Run
deeplistand compare the result with that information. - Copy the Player ID into a temporary note, then compare it character by character before submitting the command.
- Make the backup required by your server’s normal procedure.
- Tell the player when the command has completed and have them reconnect once.
Version and interface caveat
A provider procedure published March 11, 2026 documents the sequence of opening the console, running deeplist, copying the Player ID, and executing resetplayer, followed by a fresh-state reconnect. The project’s command list and hosting panels can change, so verify the command names and menu labels against the version you operate. No published statistic establishes a success rate, expected downtime, or typical reset frequency; those details depend on the server and hosting environment.
