The fastest safe start in a new Palworld world is to follow the Main Mission, gather wood and stone, craft your first tools and Pal Spheres, catch four to six nearby Pals, and place a Palbox on level ground close to basic resources. Before you travel far, make the base self-feeding with beds, storage, cooked food and workers. Spend Technology points on capture, food and production bottlenecks—not decoration—then activate fast-travel points and prepare a levelled combat group for your first Tower.

This route applies to Palworld 1.0, launched on July 10, 2026. Version 1.0 has 287 Pals and a player level cap of 80, plus the Sunreach sky islands, the World Tree and reworked Tower bosses. Those late-game additions do not change the opening loop: catch, build, craft and explore.

Your first hour: the correct order of operations
Palworld can look directionless because you are dropped into a large open world with crafting, combat, base management and collecting all available at once. The Main Mission list is the intended tutorial. It introduces gathering, the Primitive Workbench, basic tools, Pal Spheres, your first capture and the Palbox. Use it as a checklist instead of sprinting toward distant landmarks.
1. Follow the Main Mission until the basic loop is unlocked
Read the active Main Mission objective and complete it before roaming. The opening objectives naturally teach you to collect materials, craft a Primitive Workbench, make tools, produce Pal Spheres, capture a Pal and establish a Palbox. Completing these steps gives you a working survival loop and prevents a common stall: exploring with no spheres, no food and no place to recover.

2. Gather before you travel
Collect wood and stone in the starting area, then make the basic tools and workbench the mission requests. Build a campfire or cooking station and craft an initial supply of Pal Spheres. Nearby materials are enough for the opening; travelling into a higher-level zone before you can replace spheres or heal is usually a slower route.
3. Catch nearby Pals for jobs, not just combat
Capture accessible species such as Lamball, Cattiva and Chikipi. Lifmunk is also a useful early worker. Your first selection should answer a base problem: Kindling, Watering, Planting, Handiwork, Lumbering, Mining or Transporting. A Pal that performs a missing job can save more time than a stronger fighter sitting in storage.

4. Put down the Palbox on flat ground
Look for open, buildable terrain with nearby wood, stone and water. Leave enough room for beds, storage, farms and production stations. A scenic ledge with no working space creates pathing problems later. Keep the Palbox, storage and the stations workers visit most often near the centre of the site.
5. Make food and recovery work before exploring
Place a bed, feed box, campfire or cooking station and storage. Start a berry or wheat loop as soon as the relevant workers are available. Cook food instead of relying entirely on raw berries, and keep the feed box stocked. Hunger, poor access and low SAN (sanity) can leave workers idle even when the right Pal is assigned.
6. Spend Technology points on the current bottleneck
Prioritise Pal Spheres and capture equipment, workstations, beds, food production and storage. Unlock the station that removes the task you keep doing by hand. Weapons and armour become more important as local enemies out-level starter equipment. Decorative and novelty unlocks can wait until capture supplies, food or production are stable.
7. Explore with a return plan
Activate every fast-travel point you pass. Once the base has reliable food, workers and sphere production, work toward a mount. A mount expands your safe travel range and makes returning with materials practical; obtaining one before the base can feed and equip you often creates a different bottleneck.

Repair equipment, bring enough ammunition and food, and take combat Pals suited to the matchup. If the party is being defeated quickly, level the roster and improve equipment rather than repeating an under-geared attempt. The Tower is a useful test of your food, capture and training loop, not a fight you must force immediately.
A first-day plan you can actually follow
The following milestones are planning benchmarks from an independent route, not guaranteed timers. Difficulty settings, multiplayer, world settings and personal play speed can move every milestone.
| Time window | Target state | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Hour 0–1 | Palbox placed, roughly four to six Pals, cooked food stocked | Complete the Main Mission opening, craft tools and spheres, catch local Pals and establish the first base. |
| Hour 1–3 | Basic food and resource loop | Set up a berry or wheat loop, a logging site, a stone pit and worker beds. |
| Hour 3–6 | Reliable capture and metal-tool progression | Keep sphere production running and move toward metal tools as Technology points allow. |
| Day 1–2 | Mounted travel, three or four levelled fighters and first-Tower preparation | Activate fast travel, build a combat group separately from base workers, and stock repaired gear, ammunition and food. |
Do not interpret these times as a race. A slower solo start that keeps workers fed and equipment repaired is healthier than an early expedition that leaves you unable to replace lost spheres or food.
How to choose your first Pals
Your first party does not need to be a perfect endgame team. Early duplicates are useful because they fill work slots, and stronger species will naturally replace them as you explore. Build two overlapping groups: workers assigned to the base and a combat group that is actively levelling with you.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteChoose by the job your base lacks
- Kindling: assign a suitable worker to the campfire or cooking station so food preparation does not consume your time.
- Watering: use a worker for farms and water-dependent production.
- Planting: add a worker that can start the berry or wheat loop.
- Handiwork: keep crafting and station tasks moving when you are away from the base.
- Lumbering: support wood gathering and a logging site.
- Mining: operate a stone pit and later help with metal progression.
- Transporting: move harvested materials into storage so farms and pits do not clog.
When comparing a candidate, consider work suitability, accessibility, combat usefulness and whether its role is currently a bottleneck. A rare capture that cannot solve an immediate job is less valuable than a common local Pal that keeps food or spheres flowing.
Keep combat and work assignments separate
Workers that spend all day at stations are not automatically the best members of your travelling party. Maintain a combat group that gains experience with you, while the base team remains available for Kindling, Watering, Planting, Handiwork, Lumbering, Mining and Transporting. This separation avoids returning from an expedition to discover that every useful worker was taken into battle.
Where to place the first base
Build for worker paths rather than for a screenshot. The first base is a workshop that funds exploration; moving to a second, resource-focused base later is normal. Choose the site using five tests.
Flat buildable area
Flat ground gives you room for foundations, beds, farms and production. Uneven terrain makes workers route around objects or become stuck. Before placing the Palbox, walk the perimeter and check that there is enough clear space for expansion instead of measuring only the exact Palbox circle.

Resource proximity
Wood, stone and water should be close enough that workers spend their time gathering rather than walking. Metal and other specialised resources can justify a later base; forcing every resource into the first camp often produces a crowded, inefficient layout.
Clear corridors
Leave paths between farms, chests and crafting stations. Put the Palbox, storage, beds and high-traffic stations near the centre. Do not wall off a station that a worker must reach, and avoid placing decorative objects in the route between a resource node and storage.
Room for food and storage
Food production and storage expand quickly. Reserve space for a feed box, cooking, farms and additional chests before filling the centre with workbenches. A base that cannot hold ingredients or finished goods will appear to have a worker problem when the real issue is blocked storage.
Making the base self-feeding
A productive base needs more than assigned Pals. It needs a short, reliable loop: grow food, cook it, store it, let workers sleep and keep the stations reachable.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Start a berry or wheat loop
Use the planting, watering and harvesting roles required by the crop you choose. Add Transporting so harvested items reach storage or the feed box. Keep cooked food available; raw berries are an emergency reserve, not a reason to leave cooking permanently unattended.
Provide beds and a feed box
Beds let workers recover, and a feed box gives them a predictable food source. If either is missing or inaccessible, workers can stop functioning even though their job icon appears correct. Place both where paths remain clear as the base grows.
Cook in batches
Keep the campfire or cooking station supplied and cook enough for an expedition and the workers staying home. A small stockpile means you can leave to activate fast travel or gather materials without the base collapsing into hunger the moment you depart.
Check SAN and access when production stops
When workers idle, inspect food, beds, the task queue, building access and required materials in that order. Low SAN and hunger matter, but uneven terrain, blocked paths and an empty input chest are more common early causes than a supposedly weak Pal.
Technology points: a priority system that prevents stalls
Technology points are most valuable when they remove repeated manual work or open the next progression tier. Think of the early loop as food → workers → spheres → mount → Towers.
First priority: capture supply
Pal Spheres and related capture gear determine how quickly you can expand both your party and workforce. If spheres are scarce, every missed throw costs exploration time and prevents you from replacing a worker whose job you still need.
Second priority: stations and beds
Unlock the workstations that replace a repeated manual action, then provide enough beds for the workers you keep assigned. A station that lets a Pal handle a task while you explore has greater early value than a cosmetic unlock.
Third priority: food and storage
Food production protects worker reliability, while storage prevents production from stopping when a chest fills. If a new tier is close, saving points can be sensible; do not save so aggressively that your base remains unable to feed itself or produce spheres.
Fourth priority: weapons and armour
Improve combat equipment as enemies in your travel area out-level starter gear. Bring repaired equipment and enough ammunition before a Tower attempt. Combat upgrades matter most after the base can already sustain food and capture production.
What can wait
Decorations and novelty technology do not solve an early bottleneck. Return to them after capture supplies, food, beds, storage and production are operating without constant manual rescue.

Exploration without losing the base
Exploration pays off when you can return with materials, new Pals and map access. It becomes wasteful when every trip ends because the base ran out of food or spheres.
Activate fast-travel points
Interact with each fast-travel point you discover, even if you do not yet intend to settle nearby. The network shortens future resource runs and gives you a recovery route after a failed fight.
Carry a return reserve
Leave with cooked food, replacement capture supplies and repaired equipment. Keep enough room in your inventory for wood, stone and new drops. If a trip consumes the last of your food or spheres, turn back before entering a higher-level area.
Work toward a mount after stabilising production
A mount improves travel and lets you cover more ground between fast-travel points. Build toward it after workers, food and sphere production are reliable; otherwise the mount simply helps you reach places where your supplies run out faster.
Preparing for the first Tower
The first Tower should follow a stable base rather than precede it. Bring repaired weapons and armour, enough ammunition and food, and combat Pals that fit the matchup. Your travelling roster should be levelled separately from the workers assigned to the base.
Use failure as a diagnostic
If the team is deleted quickly, change the preparation, not just the attempt. Level the combat Pals, improve equipment, check that food is sufficient and choose creatures suited to the matchup. Repeating the same under-geared fight spends resources without addressing the cause.
Do not empty the base to win one fight
Leave critical Kindling, Watering, Planting, Handiwork, Lumbering, Mining and Transporting workers at home. A Tower victory is not useful if the return trip finds an unfed, stalled base with no spheres or cooked food.
Common early stalls and exact checks
Workers are standing idle
Check the feed box and beds first. Then inspect the task queue, building access and whether the station has its required materials. Move the station or clear a corridor if paths are uneven or blocked.
You cannot catch enough Pals
Return to the starting area, gather the materials for more Pal Spheres and catch accessible species rather than chasing a distant target. Keep sphere production running before beginning another long expedition.
Recommended Free Tools
The base feels crowded immediately
Stop adding decoration, move high-traffic stations closer to the Palbox and open corridors between farms, storage and beds. Reserve a clear expansion area; the first base is allowed to be functional rather than beautiful.
Food disappears too quickly
Cook food, stock the feed box and verify that planting, watering, harvesting and transporting roles are covered. An empty feed box or inaccessible storage can look like a production shortage even when the farm is producing.
Enemies out-level the equipment
Return to local areas, level the combat group and spend Technology points on appropriate weapons and armour. Activate nearby fast-travel points so the next attempt starts from a safer route.
How Palworld 1.0 affects a new character
Palworld 1.0 contains 287 Pals and raises the player level cap to 80. The release adds the Sunreach sky islands and the World Tree and reworks Tower bosses. These systems extend the later game, but a new world still starts with the same practical priorities: establish a Palbox, secure food, assign useful workers, produce spheres and explore in expanding circles.
Do not delay the opening setup because of late-game content. A well-laid-out first base, a separate combat group and a fast-travel network remain useful as you move into the new regions and higher level ranges.
A compact first-day checklist
- Complete the opening Main Mission objectives.
- Gather wood and stone; craft basic tools and a Primitive Workbench.
- Make a campfire or cooking station and initial Pal Spheres.
- Catch roughly four to six accessible Pals, including workers for missing jobs.
- Place the Palbox on flat, open terrain near wood, stone and water.
- Build beds, a feed box, storage and the first food loop.
- Cook food and keep the feed box stocked.
- Unlock capture gear, workstations, beds, food production and storage before decoration.
- Activate fast-travel points during safe expeditions.
- Keep a separate combat group levelling while workers remain assigned at home.
- Work toward a mount once food, workers and sphere production are stable.
- Repair equipment and stock ammunition and food before the first Tower.
When to build a second base
A second, resource-focused base is a normal progression step, not evidence that the first placement failed. Consider moving specialised production when the original site cannot provide enough flat space, clear paths or nearby resources without crowding farms, beds and storage. Keep the first base as a dependable workshop and food source while the new site handles a resource that is inconvenient to transport.
