To rotate prerecorded videos without ending a YouTube Live broadcast, keep one encoder or hosted playout service sending a continuous feed to the same live stream while its playlist advances. Configure the rotation in the encoder or playout service—not in a YouTube watch-page playlist—and do not stop the encoder or click End Stream when one video finishes.
What changes—and what must keep running
YouTube Live receives an outgoing encoded feed from an encoder. The encoder or hosted playout layer determines which video is currently playing and when to move to the next one. For an uninterrupted broadcast, the media can change while the outgoing feed and connection to the same YouTube Live stream remain active. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover ingest and broadcast operation, not a universal playlist scheduler; rotation controls depend on the software or service you choose. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
A YouTube watch-page playlist is not, by itself, a live playout queue. Put the video sequence in software or a hosted service that explicitly supports continuous playlist playback.
Choose where the playlist will run
Local encoder
A local encoder gives you direct control over media files and rotation settings. The computer, encoder, files, and network connection must remain available for the stream to continue. YouTube documents connecting an encoder, but the exact playlist setup varies by encoder, so follow that product’s current instructions for adding files, ordering them, and enabling repeat or automatic advancement.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Hosted playout
A hosted service can run the playout remotely, so your home computer does not need to stay on. Confirm that the specific service supports continuous playlist playback and review its current limits, recovery behavior, data handling, and cost. A vendor’s description is not independent verification of reliability or features.
Set up the rotation without ending the broadcast
- Prepare the videos. Check that the files play correctly in your selected encoder or playout service, arrange them in the intended order, and confirm you have the rights to stream them.
- Configure the playout queue. In the encoder or hosted service, add the videos and set the desired advance or loop behavior. Verify how that tool handles the end of a file and whether it inserts a gap, slate, or other transition. These controls are specific to the chosen tool.
- Create or select the YouTube stream. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or select the live stream. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the encoder or playout service, then start sending the feed. YouTube’s setup page explains this connection process: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Verify the live preview. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream status before relying on the rotation. Confirm that the encoder is still sending content as the playout advances to another video.
- Keep the feed running between videos. Let the playout source change while the encoder remains connected. Do not stop the encoder or choose End Stream just to move to the next video.
Avoid actions that end the stream
YouTube says that stopping content from the encoder ends the stream. If you are using a scheduled broadcast, check its automatic start and stop behavior before relying on it for a continuous loop. The OBS Project community guide warns that scheduled-stream Auto-stop can prevent a later reconnection from continuing that same broadcast; interface labels and behavior can change, so check the current OBS and YouTube settings. See the OBS Project community guide to streaming to YouTube and Google’s Life of a Broadcast documentation.

Google’s API documentation describes a 24/7 arrangement in which a broadcast resource can be started and later completed without stopping the video feed. That explains the distinction between a persistent outgoing feed and individual broadcast resources; it is not a user-facing playlist setup guide. See Understanding Broadcasts and Streams.
Plan for the live archive and content rules
Archive length
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a longer continuous stream will be saved as one complete archive; plan separate recordings or another archive workflow if you need a full copy. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Rights and platform policies
Only stream videos you have permission to use. Live content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and YouTube may restrict livestream access. Review YouTube’s live streaming eligibility and policies before scheduling a loop.
Troubleshooting rotation problems
- The broadcast ends when a video finishes: The encoder may be stopping its output at the end of the file. Check its playlist or playout settings for continuous playback or looping, and verify that the outgoing feed stays active across transitions.
- The next video plays locally, but viewers see a stopped stream: The playlist may be changing without the encoder continuing to send content to YouTube. Check the encoder connection, the selected stream key, and the Live Control Room status.
- You cannot reconnect to the scheduled broadcast: Review scheduled-stream Auto-stop behavior in YouTube and the encoder. The OBS community guide cautions that Auto-stop may prevent later reconnection to continue the same broadcast; confirm current settings and labels.
- The videos do not advance: Check the queue order and the selected service’s end-of-file and repeat behavior. YouTube does not provide one universal playlist control for this workflow, so consult the playout tool’s current instructions.
- The live archive is incomplete: Streams longer than 12 hours are not guaranteed to be saved as one complete archive. Set up an independent recording or divide the broadcast into manageable sessions if a complete archive is required.
