Before you run a 24/7 YouTube stream of Tamil songs from a cloud server, secure written rights for the recordings and compositions you plan to play, for the intended territories and use. Then choose between operating an encoder on a cloud virtual machine (VM), using a managed live-streaming service, or using a managed service that loops uploaded videos for you. Cloud hosting does not grant music rights, and licensed music can still trigger a YouTube interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel.
Secure the Tamil music rights before configuring a stream
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to exploit the live content. For music, that can involve artists, record labels, publishers—including public-performance licensing—and other royalty participants. The rights must cover your planned stream and territories, and you must meet applicable legal and licensing requirements.
Do not assume that buying or subscribing to a consumer music service gives you permission to rebroadcast its songs on a public YouTube livestream. The relevant permissions depend on the actual recordings, compositions, use, territories, duration, and whether you will keep an archived replay. Get written clearance covering those details from the relevant rights holders before going live; one party may not control every right you need.
YouTube for Artists advises creators planning to use copyright-protected music during a livestream to coordinate with their label or distributor. Ask the relevant rights holders to confirm not only that the planned use is licensed, but also that your channel is added to their Content ID allowlist.

Why allowlisting matters even when you have a licence
YouTube says it scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material from another live broadcast. A detected match may result in a warning and placeholder image; if the material continues, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also terminate it. YouTube specifically warns that a licensed stream may still be interrupted if the channel is not on the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist.
Keep copies of written permissions and a record of the channel, tracks, territories, dates, and archive permissions they cover. Confirm the allowlist status with the rights holder or distributor before launch. A successful test stream is not proof that all songs are cleared or that future Content ID matches will not occur.

Choose how the cloud stream will be operated
A typical self-managed setup has a playlist or other audio/video source feeding an encoder program such as FFmpeg. The encoder sends a live input to YouTube or to a managed streaming service, which processes and publishes the feed. A managed service can take over some processing and output work, but it does not remove your responsibility to clear the music or plan for continuity.
| Option | What it handles | What you still need to plan |
|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | For uploaded videos on YouTube, StreamNeo loops from the cloud; upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It runs always-on from the cloud, accepts uploads up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a first day free. | Clear rights for every song and confirm Content ID allowlisting. It streams uploaded videos to YouTube only; it does not go live from a camera. |
| 2. Self-managed cloud VM with an encoder | You rent and administer a general-purpose cloud machine and run the encoder process that sends the live input. | You configure the source, encoder, YouTube input, process supervision, monitoring, restarts, and any backup path. The exact VM size and price depend on the provider, region, media, settings, and delivery; no single size or price is established here. |
| 3. Managed live-streaming service | Google Cloud’s Live Stream API is a managed transcoding and output service. Its documentation describes RTMP or SRT inputs, H.264 video and AAC audio inputs, and HLS or MPEG-DASH outputs. | You still provide a live input, configure and operate the service, monitor continuity, and account for service limits. This is distinct from renting a VM and running FFmpeg yourself; it is not established as the only or cheapest design. |
For a YouTube broadcast, YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation distinguishes the broadcast—the event—from the live stream—the associated audio-video feed. That distinction can help when automating event setup, but the core requirement for a music channel remains a working feed backed by the necessary rights.

Set up a self-managed cloud VM
The exact commands and settings depend on the operating system, playlist format, input type, YouTube ingest details, and the encoder configuration YouTube currently presents for your stream. The official sources cited here do not establish a tested FFmpeg command, recommended VM size, bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or provider price for a 24/7 Tamil music stream. Do not copy a command or numeric encoder preset from an unrelated setup and assume it is appropriate for your channel.
- Clear the content. List the specific songs and recordings, identify the relevant rights holders, obtain written permission for the planned livestream and territories, and confirm any archive permission. Ask the rights holder or distributor to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist.
- Prepare the media source. Organize only the cleared files into a playlist or other repeatable source. Check that the files open and play in order, that the intended visual component is present, and that the source reaches its end and returns to the next item as intended. Keep an inventory so a claimed or newly restricted track can be removed quickly.
- Create and secure the cloud machine. Choose a VM and region based on the actual encoder workload, storage, data transfer, and provider pricing you expect; those figures are not specified here. Restrict administrative access, keep the operating system and encoder dependencies maintained, and store media and configuration so you can recover after a machine failure. Treat the YouTube stream key as a secret: do not put it in a public script, repository, screenshot, or log.
- Configure the YouTube live input. In YouTube’s live setup, create or select the broadcast and associated stream input, then copy the current ingest details and stream key into the encoder’s private configuration. Use the video and audio settings YouTube currently supplies or recommends for that input. A key from another broadcast or a mistyped ingest address can prevent the encoder from connecting.
- Run the encoder as a supervised service. Start the encoder with the cleared playlist as its source and YouTube’s supplied ingest configuration as its destination. Configure the VM’s service manager or process supervisor to detect an exited process, record useful logs, and restart it with a controlled delay. Keep the playlist and key outside public-facing files. The precise FFmpeg command is installation- and source-specific; verify it against the installed FFmpeg build and YouTube’s current live configuration rather than treating a generic command as a tested recipe.
- Test privately or with a short planned session. Confirm that the live feed reaches YouTube, picture and sound are present, the playlist advances, and the encoder remains running. Check YouTube’s live status and the VM’s process and network logs. Do not test with uncleared tracks: even a short test is a public use if it is visible to viewers.
- Operate and recover. Monitor the source, encoder process, outgoing connection, YouTube live status, and rights-related notices. Alert on a stopped process or lost input; after a restart, confirm the stream is actually live rather than assuming that a running VM means a working broadcast. Keep a recovery procedure for replacing a bad file, refreshing a failed input, and starting the encoder again.
Plan continuity for a true 24/7 schedule
A cloud VM can keep a process running without a home computer, but it does not make the stream self-healing by default. A playlist can end or fail, an encoder can exit, a connection can drop, and YouTube can interrupt a live stream. Process supervision, alerting, a tested restart procedure, and a fallback source or operator response are practical parts of a continuous-stream design.

If you use Google Cloud Live Stream API, account for its documented channel behavior: after 24 hours in any StreamingState other than STOPPED or STOPPING, the channel may be restarted. This is a constraint documented for that API, not a universal YouTube livestream time limit. Build monitoring and restart handling around it, and verify that the replacement channel or feed is active after a restart.
Troubleshoot common interruptions
- YouTube shows a copyright warning or placeholder image: A third-party match may have been detected. Stop or replace the affected content, review the notice, and contact the relevant rights holder. Confirm that the licence covers the use and that your channel is allowlisted; licensing alone may not prevent interruption.
- The live feed will not connect: Check that the encoder is using the current ingest details and stream key for the intended YouTube input, and inspect its logs for connection or authentication errors. Keep the key private and replace it if it may have been exposed.
- The stream goes offline while the VM is still running: A running machine does not prove that the encoder process or its connection is healthy. Check the process supervisor, encoder logs, source-file availability, and YouTube live status; then restart the encoder and verify the feed is live.
- The playlist stops advancing: Check whether the source reached the end, encountered an unreadable file, or failed to loop. Remove or repair the problematic item, then confirm playback advances through the remaining cleared material.
- A Google Cloud Live Stream API channel restarts: The API documents that a channel may be restarted after 24 hours in an active state. Monitor the channel and downstream feed, then verify that publishing resumes after the restart rather than relying on the VM’s status alone.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a managed way to loop uploaded Tamil music videos on YouTube rather than administer an encoder VM, StreamNeo works in three steps: upload your recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot streams uploads as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price regardless of quality; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. Rights and YouTube allowlisting still need to be handled separately. Start the free day on StreamNeo.
