Start a Roblox experience on Windows
- Open Roblox.com in a supported browser and sign in.
- Go to the page for the experience you want to play and click its green Play button.
- If Roblox Player is not installed, follow the installation prompt.
- If your browser asks which application should open the Roblox link, choose Roblox and confirm. The player should launch; Roblox says it can then open from the browser on future plays. See Roblox’s installation and play instructions.
Roblox lists Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge as supported browsers for its Windows website. Its current PC requirements specify 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11. Check Roblox’s full computer and operating-system requirements for the latest details.
Find the key or mouse control for running
- Once you are inside the experience, open its in-game menu.
- Select Help and check the keyboard shortcuts and mouse instructions shown there.
- Use the movement controls listed for that experience to run or move your character.
Roblox’s Help menu is intended to show controls for the experience; the support page does not establish one universal run key for every game. If you do not see a run command, the experience may use a different movement setup or may not provide a separate run action.
Camera settings can also affect how movement feels. Roblox says Classic camera mode can be adjusted by holding the right mouse button and dragging. Follow camera mode rotates with the avatar. If an experience makes Shift Lock Switch available, Shift toggles camera modes; developers can lock an experience to a particular camera mode. See Roblox’s in-experience settings and Help guide.

If Roblox does not launch or your Windows app is outdated
Roblox Support currently directs Windows players to its newer Microsoft Store app, named Roblox – Windows and shown with a blue icon. The older app is named Roblox and has a light gray icon; Roblox says it will eventually stop working. Follow the live Windows app update instructions if you need to migrate. Roblox advises uninstalling the older app only after installing the new one and successfully logging in.
Check whether your PC meets Roblox’s requirements
Roblox’s published PC specifications list DirectX 10 or higher feature-level graphics support, a recent processor (2005+) at 1.6 GHz or better recommended, at least 1 GB of RAM, and at least 300 MB of system storage. Roblox recommends 4–8 Mb/s internet for a single-use household. These are Roblox’s stated specifications, not a guarantee that every experience will run smoothly; the support page also notes that older AMD processors have had issues and that newer or prerelease operating systems might not be supported immediately. Improve performance if an experience runs poorly
- Open the in-experience menu and choose Settings.
- Set Graphics Mode to Manual.
- Move Graphics Quality left to favor performance, or right to favor image quality.
