No—South of Midnight has no manual gameplay-save option. The game saves automatically as you progress. Watch for a spinning spindle icon in the lower-left corner; it indicates that an autosave is in progress.
How to save your progress
There is no menu command for creating a save whenever you choose. Continue playing and let the game save automatically. When the spindle icon appears in the lower-left corner, the game is saving.
GamesRadar+ and Insider Gaming report autosaves around progression and significant events. Examples they give include cutscenes, combat or boss fights, interactions, and Floof pickups. These are reported examples, not a complete or guaranteed list of triggers.
When is it safe to quit?
The available guides do not establish a fixed autosave interval or specify an exact point at which it is safe to quit. If you want to reduce the chance of leaving during a save, wait for the lower-left spindle indicator to disappear before exiting. Do not assume that a particular number of minutes of progress is saved.

Can you replay a chapter to find missed collectibles?
Yes. GamesRadar+ reports that completed chapters can be replayed from their beginnings, allowing another chance to collect items or repeat sections. Chapter replay is not a way to create a save partway through an unfinished chapter.
