YouTube does not document a native way to schedule a livestream from a playlist and have it remember which videos have already aired. Its playlist Loop control repeats ordinary playlist playback; Live Control Room schedules a livestream event but does not select or track videos from a YouTube watch playlist. If you mean uploaded video files broadcast as a live stream, a hosted playout service can schedule or loop them—but that is not the same as confirmed “skip what already played” tracking.
What YouTube can—and cannot—schedule
YouTube’s playlist Loop setting repeats a playlist while someone watches it: open a video in the playlist, expand the playlist, then click Loop. YouTube’s instructions do not describe a livestream schedule, a history of aired playlist items, or an option to skip videos already played (YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists).
A scheduled livestream is a separate feature. In Live Control Room, choose Manage, schedule a stream, then connect an encoder using the stream URL and stream key. At the scheduled time, start the encoder, wait for the preview, and select Go live. This schedules the live event; it does not turn a YouTube watch playlist into an automatically advancing broadcast queue (YouTube Help: Schedule a live stream).
YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat them as credentials: anyone with access to the key may be able to send a feed to your stream (YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).

First identify what you want to play
A YouTube watch playlist
If the videos are already on YouTube and you mean a playlist on its watch page, YouTube’s documented Loop control is for repeat playback, not a scheduled livestream. The reviewed YouTube controls do not establish any native “skip previously aired videos” setting.
Uploaded video files broadcast as live
If you have MP4s or other uploaded source files and want them presented as a live broadcast, that is a file-based playout workflow rather than a YouTube watch playlist. For example, Castr documents uploading MP4 files, arranging them in a playlist, and choosing Loop or a scheduled Date & Time; it also documents TV Playout for uploaded video and livestream content (Castr: How to live stream pre-recorded videos; Castr TV Playout). These documented functions do not establish that the service tracks whether a particular item has already played and skips it on a later run.

Gyre advertises looping playlists of prerecorded videos as YouTube live streams and scheduling continuous streams (Gyre). That describes an adjacent workflow, not proof of stateful skip-after-playback behavior. Before choosing any service for that specific requirement, ask its vendor to confirm exactly how it handles playback history, schedule restarts, and interrupted items.
Schedule a YouTube live event with an encoder
This is the documented DIY route when you want to schedule a live event and send an encoder feed. It does not provide automatic selection or skip tracking for a YouTube watch playlist.

- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Go to Manage and choose the option to schedule a stream. Set the event details and scheduled time as prompted by YouTube (YouTube Help: Schedule a live stream).
- Connect your encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event into the corresponding encoder fields. Keep the key private; it authorizes the encoder feed (YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
- Start the encoder at the scheduled time. Wait until the Live Control Room preview receives the feed, then click Go live. Scheduling creates the event, but the encoder still has to send the video and the event must be taken live.
- Manage your source separately. An encoder workflow needs a source feed. If the source is a playlist of files, use an encoder or playout system that can supply that feed; do not assume YouTube will read a watch-page playlist or remember which items it has aired.
Do not confuse viewer DVR with source-video scheduling
YouTube Live DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume a live stream. It does not control which source video plays next. YouTube notes that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours, and viewers cannot seek to a point before the stream began (YouTube Help: Enable or disable DVR on live streams).
Choose a workflow by the behavior you need
- One scheduled live event: Use Live Control Room with an encoder. You schedule the event, then start the encoder and take the event live.
- Uploaded recordings aired on a timetable or in a loop: Consider a file-based playout workflow such as the documented Castr options. Confirm its current feature details directly with the vendor.
- A playlist that skips items based on prior playback: YouTube’s documented controls do not provide this behavior. Ask any third-party provider to demonstrate or explicitly confirm persistent playback-history and skip rules before relying on it.
- Continuous prerecorded programming without a home computer running: A cloud service may fit, but continuous looping alone does not prove that already-played videos will be skipped rather than replayed.

Troubleshooting and checks
The scheduled event exists, but it is not receiving video
- Check that the encoder is running and configured with the stream URL and key for the scheduled event.
- Confirm the feed appears in Live Control Room’s preview; scheduling an event by itself does not send video.
- If the key was changed or copied incorrectly, update the encoder with the event’s current key.
The playlist repeats instead of skipping completed items
Looping and playback-history rules are different behaviors. A loop restarts the playlist; it does not imply that played items are removed or skipped. Check for an explicit, documented history-based skip feature in the service you use.
Viewers can rewind, but the playlist behavior is unchanged
DVR is a viewer-side control on the live broadcast, not a setting for the encoder’s source queue. On very long streams, YouTube may also limit or disable rewind DVR.

You plan to rebroadcast game footage or other third-party material
Make sure you have the rights and permissions required for everything in the stream. A scheduling or playout tool does not grant permission to use music, game footage, or other copyrighted content, and an uninterrupted stream is not by itself a guarantee of YouTube monetization eligibility. Review YouTube’s current copyright and monetization rules for your channel and content before scheduling a long-running broadcast.
