The message “Spawn point set!” confirms it worked. Interacting with that foot again removes the manual spawn point.
Set your spawn point at a bed

Place a bed in a valid room.

Stand at the foot half of the bed and use the displayed Open / Activate interaction. The exact button or key depends on your platform and controls.

Look for the message “Spawn point set!” If you interact with the same bed’s foot again, your manual spawn point is removed.

The head half is used for sleeping on Desktop, Console, and Mobile; use the foot to set or remove a spawn point. The current Terraria Wiki Spawn reference covers those platforms and directs players using Old-gen console or 3DS to separate legacy documentation. Terraria Wiki: Spawn

Make sure the bedroom is valid
A bed on its own is not enough. It must be in a room that satisfies the game’s housing requirements, including an appropriate frame and safe walls. Any wall-free area must be no more than four tiles wide or four tiles tall. The three tiles above the bed’s head must be free of solid blocks, though platforms are allowed.

Furniture and light: Extra furniture and lighting are not required to set a spawn point.

Clearance differs for sleeping: For spawn setting, only the three tiles above the head must be clear of solid blocks. Sleeping requires all four tiles above the bed to be clear, so a block over the foot may stop sleeping without preventing spawn setting.
Why can’t I set a spawn point with my bed?
Try activating the foot half and read the game’s response. Terraria does not provide a separate visual indicator equivalent to the housing menu for confirming a bedroom’s validity; the interaction message is the useful diagnostic.

“Your bedroom is too small!” or “Your bedroom is too big!” — The room does not meet the size requirements.

“Your bedroom is missing a wall!” — A required wall is absent.

“Natural walls in this bedroom need replacing!” — Replace the natural walls with safe walls.

“Your bed is obstructed.” — Check the bed and the required clearance above its head.

“Your bed is too close to the world’s edge.” — Move the bed farther from the world’s edge.

“This is not a valid room for a bed.” — The room fails a validity requirement; check its frame, size, walls, and bed placement.

Your manual bed spawn replaces the world spawn when you enter the world, respawn after death, or use a return item such as a Recall Potion, Magic Mirror, or Ice Mirror. If you remove the bed spawn—or break the house containing the bed—the game returns your spawn to the world default. That default is generally near the horizontal center of the surface, though special seeds can differ. Terraria Wiki: Spawn
