Pick whether the trigger is above or below your target, enable only useful notification channels, and use repeat or expiry controls when available. An alert is a reminder to review, not an instruction to trade.
Choose a threshold that has a purpose
Before entering a price, decide what you would review if Bitcoin reached it. If the answer is “nothing in particular,” you probably do not need that alert. A round number or personally significant level can be convenient, but there is no universally correct alert count, percentage move, or buffer established by the platform documentation cited here.

Decide whether you care about price moving above the target, below it, or either way. A direction-specific condition can avoid a notification for a move you do not intend to monitor. Keep the alert message neutral—such as “Review plan”—rather than wording it as a command to buy or sell.
Set an alert in the app or charting service you use
Coinbase mobile app
- Search for and select Bitcoin.
- Tap the star icon to add Bitcoin to your watchlist. Coinbase says only watchlisted assets send price alerts.
- Tap the bell-plus icon, then Add Alert.
- Choose whether the price should move above or below your target, then enter the target.
- Save the alert.
- To choose available delivery channels, open Account & Settings → Notification Settings and configure Price Alerts or Custom Alerts. You can delete alerts from notification settings.
Coinbase says its price alerts only notify you that an asset has reached a price; they do not place an order. The company describes alerts as informational, not investment advice. See Coinbase’s price-alert instructions.

Kraken Pro
On Kraken Pro web, open the Alerts widget, enable browser notifications, and create an alert. Select the market and trigger parameters, then enter a price or use a percentage adjustment from the current market price. Review, edit, or delete alerts in the widget.
On mobile, enable push notifications in both your device settings and Kraken Pro. Open the price-alert modal from the Markets page or from an open market or order. Kraken’s support page, updated January 20, 2026, says Futures price alerts cannot currently be set in the app. A Futures alert created on web can still be delivered to mobile when push settings are enabled, although the notification may not link to the correct market page. Check Kraken’s current Market Alerts guidance because product details can change.

TradingView
Open the Bitcoin chart and create a price alert. For a simple target, choose the Price condition and select the trigger that fits your plan:
- Crossing triggers when price crosses the level in either direction.
- Crossing up or Greater than targets an upward move.
- Crossing down or Less than targets a downward move.
TradingView documents repeat options including once, every time, once per bar close, or once per minute, as well as an expiry date or an open-ended setting where available. Delivery options include app notification, pop-up, email, webhook, and sound. Plan limits can affect how many active alerts you can have. Reduce prompts that invite unnecessary reactions
- Use a directional trigger: Choose above or below when only one direction matters.
- Limit repeats: If the service offers frequency controls, select a setting that avoids repeated prompts you do not need.
- Expire temporary alerts: Set an end date for a level that matters only during a particular period, when that option is available.
- Trim delivery channels: Enable only the notifications you will notice and find useful; check device permissions as well as app settings.
- Remove obsolete alerts: Delete alerts that no longer relate to a decision you intend to review.
These are practical ways to keep alerts focused, not a guaranteed behavioral intervention. A price notification is a data point—not an order, forecast, or recommendation.

The setup depends on the service: Coinbase’s cited workflow requires the asset to be on your watchlist; Kraken’s mobile delivery depends on notification permissions; and TradingView provides configurable conditions, repeat and expiry settings, and delivery choices. Support for a particular market or product can differ from one interface to another. Menu names and features may change, so consult the platform’s current help page if the steps do not match what you see.
