Install the All of Fabric 6 client and the separately listed All of Fabric 6 Server pack for Minecraft 1.19.2, run them with a compatible Java runtime and Fabric launcher, allocate at least 4 GB of RAM for about 5–10 players, and keep every client and server file on the same release.

What you need before installing AOF6
All of Fabric 6 (AOF6) is a Fabric modpack for Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.2. The TeamAOE project listing describes it as having more than 390 mods and over 1,000 quests. The same listing provides an All of Fabric 6 Server download alongside the client releases. A dedicated server must use that server pack; installing only the client pack on a server usually leaves out files required for a headless, server-side launch.

Download two matching releases
Use the official CurseForge project page to download both of these files:
- The AOF6 client release that every player will install.
- The separately listed All of Fabric 6 Server pack for the same release and Minecraft 1.19.2.
Do not pair a newly released client with an older server pack. Mod lists, configuration files, loader versions and dependency versions can change between AOF6 releases, even when the pack name remains the same. Record the exact file or version shown in the launcher so you can give every player the same target.

Choose a dedicated directory and host
Create a new folder used only by this server, such as AOF6-server. It should have room for the launcher, libraries, hundreds of mod files, configuration, logs, world saves, backups and future updates. Avoid placing the server inside a client installation, a temporary download folder or a directory synchronized by software that may lock files while the server is running.
A computer on your local network is sufficient for a private game. A public server additionally needs a firewall rule, a router port-forwarding rule and a stable address or hostname. Those networking tasks are separate from installing the modpack.
Plan memory realistically
TeamAOE states that AOF6 is recommended to have at least 4 GB to run smoothly with 5–10 players. That is a pack-author baseline, not a guarantee for every world. Exploration, large bases, farms, high view distances and additional server-side mods can increase memory and CPU use. Leave RAM for the operating system and other services instead of assigning all physical memory to Java.
Begin with a conservative heap, observe the console and tick performance, then change one setting at a time. A larger heap cannot compensate for an unsuitable Java runtime, a wrong mod set or a view distance that forces the server to keep too many chunks active.
Install the correct Java and Fabric launcher
Verify the runtime for this exact pack
Fabric’s current documentation says, “For Minecraft 1.20.5 and higher we recommend using Java 21.” AOF6 targets Minecraft 1.19.2, so that statement does not automatically make Java 21 the right choice for every AOF6 release. Check the server-pack instructions, launch script and dependency requirements for the specific AOF6 version you downloaded. Use a supported Java runtime, and make sure the command you run resolves to that installation rather than to a different Java version already on your system.

On Windows, open a terminal and run java -version. On Linux or macOS, use the same command in a shell. Confirm the reported version before troubleshooting mod errors. If multiple Java installations are present, use the full path to the intended executable in your startup script.

Obtain the Fabric server launcher
Download the Fabric executable server launcher, or use the Fabric Installer’s Server tab to select Minecraft 1.19.2 and the loader version required by your AOF6 release. Fabric describes the executable JAR as a small launcher that starts a Fabric-enabled Minecraft server using the selected versions. Keep this launcher in the dedicated server folder.
The launcher is not the same thing as the AOF6 server pack. The launcher supplies the Fabric server environment; the AOF6 server archive supplies the modpack’s mods, configurations and supporting files. Both are needed.
Build the server folder step by step
- Create and enter the folder. Make
AOF6-serverand place the Fabric launcher JAR inside it. Use a path without unusual permissions or characters if your operating system or hosting panel has trouble starting JAR files. - Run the launcher once. Use the command pattern
java -Xmx2G -jar <fabric server launcher jar file name> nogui. Replace the placeholder with the exact launcher filename. Change-Xmx2Gto the heap you have planned; the example is a starting command, not the AOF6 memory recommendation. - Stop after initial generation. Let the process create its files, then stop it cleanly from the console. Do not terminate the process while it is writing the initial server files.
- Accept the EULA. Open the generated
eula.txt, read the Minecraft EULA and change the setting toeula=trueonly if you agree to it. Save the file. - Install the AOF6 server pack. Extract the matching server-pack archive into this same directory. Merge files only when your operating system asks; do not create an extra nested folder that leaves the launcher looking in the wrong location.
- Check the required layout. The launcher,
server.properties,server.jar,libraries,mods,configand the world directory should be together in the server’s working directory. The world directory may appear after the first successful start. - Start again and watch the console. Use the same Java and launcher command, now with your chosen heap. Wait for a message indicating that the server has finished loading before connecting a client.
If the server pack includes its own startup script, read it before replacing it with a custom command. It may specify a loader version, additional JVM flags or a particular launcher filename. Preserve those requirements when you adjust memory.
Make clients and server match exactly
A modded connection is not just a check of the Minecraft version. Every player should install the same AOF6 release, Minecraft 1.19.2, Fabric loader version and required dependency versions as the server. Fabric’s mod guidance also requires mods to target the correct Minecraft version, use Fabric rather than another mod loader and run on Java Edition. Most Fabric mods require Fabric API; use the copy included or specified by the AOF6 release rather than substituting an unrelated version.

Use a known-good client as your reference
On Windows, Fabric recommends creating and testing a client instance first. Start the client once, confirm that it reaches the title screen and that the pack’s menu or content loads, then compare its files with the server pack. Copy only server-compatible mods into the server’s mods folder. Never copy the complete client folder blindly.
Graphics and interface mods, shader loaders, minimaps that are client-only, keybind utilities and other rendering or input enhancements generally do not belong on a dedicated server. A client-only JAR can cause a dedicated-server crash or a loader rejection. Conversely, a server-required gameplay mod missing from a client produces a mismatch when the player tries to join.
Copy configuration deliberately
Some AOF6 configuration files affect both sides, while others are purely client-side. Copy a configuration file only when the mod’s documentation or the server pack indicates that the server needs it. Before changing a configuration, stop the server and make a backup. Keep a note of any deliberate change so another player does not overwrite it with a fresh client configuration.
Diagnose a mismatch without guessing
- Compare the exact filenames in the client and server
modsdirectories. - Check that each filename’s version corresponds to the same AOF6 release.
- Remove client-only files from the server, not from every player’s client.
- Restore dependencies from the AOF6 server pack when a log names a missing library; do not download a random newer JAR.
- Read the first meaningful error in the log. Later “connection closed” messages are often consequences rather than the cause.
Configure the world and network
Set server properties before inviting players
Stop the server, edit server.properties, save it and start again. The file controls the server name displayed in the multiplayer list, difficulty, view distance, simulation distance, whitelist and listening port. Make small changes and test after each restart.

A whitelist is appropriate for a private group; add players using the server console only after the server has loaded successfully.

Keep a LAN server private
Players on the same home network can connect using the host computer’s local IP address and the configured port. A private LAN server does not need internet port forwarding. Allow the Java process through the host firewall only on the network profile you trust.
Expose a public server carefully
- Choose the port in
server.propertiesand document it for players. - Create an inbound firewall rule on the host for that port and the Java server process.
- Forward the same port on the router to the host computer’s local IP address.
- Test from outside the home network, such as through a mobile connection, rather than relying only on a test from the host itself.
- Keep the whitelist enabled until remote access and permissions are confirmed.
Port forwarding exposes the game service to the internet; it does not make the modpack install safer. Keep the operating system and Java runtime maintained, use strong administrative credentials and stop the server when it is not needed.

Use a repeatable start command
Save the working command in a script so every restart uses the same Java executable, launcher filename, heap and nogui option. For example:
java -Xmx4G -jar <fabric server launcher jar file name> noguiThe 4 GB example aligns with the pack author’s minimum recommendation for roughly 5–10 players, but your system must still retain memory for the operating system. If the server host has less than 4 GB total RAM, do not assign 4 GB to Java.
Back up before updates
- Stop the server cleanly before copying files.
- Back up the world directory,
mods,config,server.properties, whitelist and ban files. - Keep at least one backup away from the live server folder.
- Record the AOF6 release, loader version, Java version and any manual configuration changes.
Update the complete AOF6 pack rather than replacing one mod at a time unless the pack’s maintainers explicitly document an individual update. Test the updated copy with a backup world before allowing players to use it. A world saved by a newer or altered mod set may not be safely usable with the previous installation.

Troubleshoot the most common failures
The server crashes immediately
Confirm that Java, Minecraft 1.19.2, the Fabric loader and every installed mod match the AOF6 release. Check the launch script for a wrong JAR filename or a Java executable from another installation. Remove any client-only mod that was copied into the server. The first stack trace naming a mod or dependency is more useful than the final shutdown line.
The log reports a missing dependency
Restore the dependency from the matching AOF6 server pack and verify its version. Do not solve a missing-dependency message by downloading the newest file you can find: a newer library may require a different loader, Minecraft version or API and can create a second failure.
A client cannot join
Compare the client and server release numbers, Minecraft version, Fabric loader, Fabric API and mod filenames. Remove client-only JARs from the server and install any server-required mod on the client. If the error lists a configuration or registry mismatch, revert both sides to the same backed-up release before attempting further edits.
The server runs out of memory or ticks slowly
First confirm that the server is using the intended heap and that the machine has enough physical RAM. The AOF6 baseline is at least 4 GB for 5–10 players, but assigning more than the host can provide makes the operating system starve. Lower view and simulation distance, reduce simultaneous exploration and stop unrelated services. Inspect logs and tick behavior before adding memory; a runaway entity farm or a mod error will not be fixed by an arbitrary heap increase.
A remote host cannot start the pack
Fabric’s remote-upload guidance calls out the launcher, server.properties, server.jar and the complete libraries directory. Upload those items together with the AOF6 server-pack contents, preserve directory names and set the host’s startup command to the correct launcher. An upload that contains only mods is incomplete.
Self-hosting or managed hosting?
The right choice depends on whether you want control over the machine or less day-to-day maintenance. A managed service is useful only if it can import the exact AOF6 server pack and expose the settings the pack needs. The AOF6 project page’s hosting note does not establish that any particular provider supports your release, so verify capabilities before paying.

Before selecting a managed plan, ask specifically about Minecraft 1.19.2, Fabric loader selection, server-pack upload limits, Java-version control, at least 4 GB of allocatable RAM, automated backups and restoring a previous pack version. Treat a provider’s generic “mod support” label as unverified until those questions are answered.
A first-join checklist
- The server starts without missing-dependency or loader errors.
- The console reaches a completed-load state and creates or opens the intended world.
- The client and server use the same AOF6 release, Minecraft 1.19.2, Fabric loader and dependency versions.
- The server’s
modsdirectory contains no client-only graphics or input mods. server.propertieshas the intended name, difficulty, distances, whitelist and port.- The host firewall and router expose the port only when remote access is intended.
- A clean backup exists before the first group session and before any update.
- Players can join, move through newly generated terrain and leave without errors in the server log.
Once those checks pass, add players gradually. Watch memory use, tick times and log warnings during exploration, then adjust view distance, simulation distance or the heap based on observed behavior rather than changing several variables at once.
