How to Set Up an Arcade Stick for Psikyo Shoot-’Em-Ups

Psikyo arcade-stick setup varies by game, release, and platform. Check compatibility, verify system input, then configure and test the selected game’s controls.

There is no single arcade-stick setup or button map that applies to every Psikyo shoot-’em-up. First identify the exact game and release, the platform it runs on, and—on a computer—the operating system. Then check that the system recognizes the stick before adjusting the game’s controls.

Identify your game and platform first

Psikyo games have appeared in different releases and on different platforms. The setup depends on the specific combination you are playing: a game, its release or port, and the console or computer running it. A menu path or button assignment for one version cannot safely be assumed to work for another.

Before connecting the stick, note the game’s exact title and release, your platform, and your operating system if you are using a computer. Check that the stick supports that platform, and consult the selected game’s official manual or store documentation for its controller support and input options. The available Psikyo-specific information here does not establish a universal compatibility list or mapping.

Connect the stick and verify system input

Follow the stick manufacturer’s connection instructions. On a computer, test it in the operating system’s controller settings before troubleshooting the game. PXN’s PXN-0082 manual describes using computer controller settings to check that its hardware functions. That check is an example for that product; it does not confirm Psikyo compatibility or apply to every stick, operating system, or game.

8Bitdo Arcade Stick for Switch & Windows, Arcade Fight Stick Support Wireless Bluetooth, 2.4G Receiver and Wired Connection
  • Compatible with Switch and Windows.
  • Supports ultimate software - customize button mapping and create macros
  • Dynamic button layout - button mapping changes with mode functionally and visually
  • Ultra-moddable arcade stick - Universal mounting plate supports Sanwa arcade sticks
  • Three ways to connect: Bluetooth, 2.4g and wired USB-C. The included 2.4g receiver has a special hidden compartment to store it safely.

Check whether the system registers the directions and buttons you intend to use. If it does not, resolve the connection or system-level detection issue first; changing a game’s control assignments will not help if the system cannot see the stick.

Set controls in the selected game

Launch the specific release and look for its controller or input settings. If the game provides remapping, assign the directions and actions—such as movement and fire—using that game’s own controls and terminology. Check its manual if the available options are unclear.

If the game does not offer remapping, use platform-level remapping only when it is documented for your platform and the release you are playing. Do not rely on a generic Steam configuration or menu path: a Steam Community example about another game documents that other game’s configuration, not a Psikyo title.

Test the setup before playing

  1. Confirm the game is the release you intend to play and that the stick is connected according to its manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Verify that the system registers the stick’s directions and buttons.
  3. Open the game’s input settings, if available, and assign movement and the actions supported by that release.
  4. Test each direction and assigned button in a low-risk menu or practice setting before starting a full run.

Troubleshoot by isolating the failure

  • The system does not register the stick: Check its connection and manufacturer instructions, then repeat the system-level controller test.
  • The system registers the stick, but the game does not: Check the selected release’s manual or documentation for controller support and any required input settings.
  • The game recognizes input, but an action is wrong or missing: Review that release’s control assignments and confirm each button in a safe test setting. If remapping is unavailable, check whether documented platform-level remapping supports the game.
