What ATM10 Aeronautics requires
ATM10 Aeronautics (also written ATM10A or ATM10AERO) is an ATM10 variant published by ATMTeam. It adds custom items, pipes, balance changes, power-system overhauls and changed world generation. Aeronautics features are optional for players, but the server still has to load the complete pack. CurseForge lists the project for Minecraft 1.21.1 with the NeoForge loader. The official GitHub repository identifies itself as the repository and issue tracker for “All The Mods 10 – Aeronautics 1.21.1.”

Hardware and software checklist
- Operating system: Windows or a Linux distribution with a writable server directory.
- Memory: allocate at least 6 GB of RAM, the baseline stated in the official All The Guides server documentation for most ATM packs. This is not a tested maximum-player recommendation.
- Java: install the Java build required by the exact ATM10 Aeronautics release you selected. Do not assume that the Java used by another modpack is suitable. Verify the runtime with
java -versionand make sure the start script uses that same installation. - Storage: leave room for the extracted pack, NeoForge libraries, logs, configuration files and the generated world. A fast SSD reduces load and save delays, although no official capacity or benchmark is specified.
- Network: a reachable listening port for outside players, or the connection details supplied by your hosting provider.
On Linux, use a normal home-directory location and ensure the account running the server can read and write it. On Windows, avoid OneDrive and other cloud-synchronized folders; synchronization can remove, lock or corrupt files while the server is running.

Download the matching server pack
- Open the ATM10 Aeronautics project on CurseForge.
- Select Files, then open the exact release your players will install.
- In that release’s Additional Files section, download its server pack. Do not copy the files from a client installation.
- Create a dedicated folder such as
C:MinecraftATM10AERO-0.7.1on Windows or~/servers/atm10aero-0.7.1on Linux. - Extract the downloaded archive into that folder. The archive is commonly named
Server-Files.zip; the release-specific artifact is separate from the client download. For example, an earlier 1.21.1/NeoForge release suppliedserver-0.5.1.zipon August 27, 2026.
Keep the client and server release numbers identical. A 0.7.1 client should join a 0.7.1 server, not an older 0.5.1 installation. Matching Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and pack configuration is required as well.
First launch on Windows
- Open the extracted server folder in File Explorer.
- Double-click
startserver.bat. If Windows displays a security prompt, allow the script only if you obtained the archive from the official release page. - Leave the installer running while it downloads or generates libraries and configuration files. Closing the window during this stage can leave an incomplete installation.
- When the process stops or reports that the EULA must be accepted, open the newly created
eula.txt. - Change
eula=falsetoeula=true, save the file and close it. - Run
startserver.batagain. Wait for the console to report that the dedicated server has finished loading before attempting a connection.
The first run is an installation step as well as a launch. Expect it to create folders such as libraries, config, defaultconfigs, mods, kubejs, world and world/serverconfigs.

- Open a terminal and change to the server directory, for example
cd ~/servers/atm10aero-0.7.1. - Grant execute permission to the supplied script once:
chmod +x startserver.sh. If the directory is owned by another account, correct ownership or permissions rather than running the server as root. - Start the installer with
./startserver.shand allow it to finish creating libraries and configuration files. - Edit the generated EULA file with a text editor, for example
nano eula.txt, and seteula=true. - Start the script again with
./startserver.sh. Keep the terminal or a service manager attached so you can read the console while testing.
The same rule applies on Linux as on Windows: do not interrupt the first installer run. A partially generated library set often causes misleading errors on the next attempt.

Make the basic server configuration
Use server.properties conservatively
After one successful launch, stop the server cleanly and review server.properties. This is where you set the world name, difficulty, game mode, view distance, simulation distance and access controls such as the whitelist. Change one setting at a time and retain a copy of the file before major edits.
Leave server-ip blank unless your network design specifically requires a bind address. The official guide warns that editing server-ip can prevent the server from starting. Normally the server binds to the host’s available interfaces, while players connect to the machine’s address or the provider’s assigned hostname. Use the host’s normal port unless you have a documented reason to change server-port; if you do change it, open the same port in the operating-system firewall and router.
Understand the pack configuration folders
configcontains server-side and common mod configuration supplied by the pack.defaultconfigssupplies defaults used when worlds or dimensions are created.world/serverconfigscontains configuration specific to the generated world.kubejsmay contain scripts and data that define pack recipes or behavior.
Do not edit these directories until the unmodified server has started successfully. Record every intentional change in a dated text file so you can reproduce it after a pack update. Never replace a working world with a newly generated one merely to apply a configuration change.

Let players connect safely
Every player must launch the same ATM10 Aeronautics release for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. A client with a different mod list, loader build or configuration can fail during the handshake even when the server is online.
For a home server, players on the same network can usually connect with the host computer’s local address. Internet players need the host’s public address or a DNS name, router port forwarding to the server machine, and a firewall rule allowing the chosen TCP port. Do not publish a private address or expose administrative services. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; a hosted server or a VPN-based private network is then a practical alternative.
On first connection, use the server console to grant administrative privileges only to trusted accounts. Enable a whitelist when the server is private, and test a normal player account before inviting others.

Deploy ATM10 Aeronautics with a hosting provider
A managed host is simpler when you do not want to maintain Java, firewall rules, backups and an always-on computer. The technical requirements do not change: the host must support Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and your exact Aeronautics release, and it must provide enough allocated memory.
One-click modpack installation
- Choose the provider’s NeoForge or modpack installer.
- Select the exact ATM10 Aeronautics release rather than a similarly named ATM10 pack.
- Confirm the selected Minecraft and NeoForge versions in the control panel.
- Set memory to at least 6 GB allocated, then start the server once.
- Review the console, accept the EULA through the provider’s file editor if prompted, and start again.
Manual upload
If no Aeronautics installer exists, create a NeoForge server using the version required by the pack, then upload the extracted server files through FTP/SFTP or the provider’s file manager. Some panels require a custom-jar or ServerStarter entry point; in that case, follow the panel’s documented filename and startup arguments. Upload the pack’s files as a complete set instead of mixing them with an unrelated modpack installation.
Before paying, verify current support for the release, archive extraction or FTP/SFTP access, scheduled backups, console access, file restoration and the provider’s update procedure. No official source supplies a CPU benchmark, RAM-per-player table or guaranteed concurrent-player count. Treat the 6 GB figure as a starting allocation, monitor the console and operating-system memory use, and increase resources only when measurements show a need.

Update without losing the world
- Announce maintenance and stop the server normally so pending chunks and player data are saved.
- Copy the entire
worlddirectory to storage outside the live server folder. Label the backup with the old pack version and date. - Download the new release’s server pack and compare its Minecraft, NeoForge and pack versions with your intended client update.
- Replace pack-managed directories with the new copies as directed by the official update workflow:
kubejs,defaultconfigs,modsandconfig. - If the NeoForge version changes, replace the
librariesdirectory and the new start scripts or installer as well. - Preserve custom configuration deliberately. Do not blindly overwrite
server.properties,world/serverconfigsor personal scripts; merge changes and document them. - Start the updated server while players remain offline. Inspect the complete log for missing mods, registry errors, data-fix warnings and repeated crashes.
- Only after a clean test should you permit players to connect. Keep the backup until the new version has been stable.
Troubleshooting common failures
There is no startserver.bat or startserver.sh
You may have downloaded a client archive or an incomplete extraction. If the supplied NeoForge installer is present, run java -jar neoforge-installer*.jar --installServer from the server directory, then use the generated run.bat or run.sh. Prefer the release’s supplied start script when it exists because it carries the pack’s intended arguments.
Java is wrong or the process exits immediately
Run java -version in the same shell or account that launches the server. Multiple Java installations can cause the script to select an older default. Update the script’s Java path or system environment so it points to the build required by your selected ATM10 Aeronautics release, then launch again.
Linux says permission denied
Run chmod +x startserver.sh, verify that the server directory and its files are readable and writable by the service account, and check that the filesystem is not mounted with execution disabled. Do not solve a permissions problem by running the entire server as root.
The server will not start after networking edits
Stop the process, open server.properties, restore a blank server-ip and return to the host’s normal port unless your network specifically requires another value. Then check the firewall and router separately.
The client cannot join
- Compare the client and server Aeronautics release number.
- Confirm both use Minecraft 1.21.1 and the same NeoForge loader version expected by that release.
- Reinstall the client pack from the same release page if its files were modified.
- Read the server and client logs for a missing mod, mismatched registry entry or configuration error.
- For remote players, test the public address, port forwarding and firewall independently from the mod handshake.
The world or settings disappeared after an update
Stop immediately and do not generate another world with the same name. Restore the pre-update world backup, then repeat the update while keeping custom configuration outside the replacement directories. A clean backup is the recovery point for incompatible world data or an accidental overwrite.
