Fortnite’s “Entry Point Not Found” message usually means Windows cannot resolve a function that FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe needs from a loaded DLL or another game component. Start with the low-risk repair Epic supports today: restart Windows, run Fortnite’s Verify action in Epic Games Launcher, and repair Easy Anti-Cheat if the launch still fails.
The 2019 workaround that removes Fortnite’s Win64 executable files can still be useful as a last-resort game-file reset, but it is more disruptive than Verify and must be followed by another verification pass. Do not download individual DLL files from random websites.

What “Entry Point Not Found” means in Fortnite
Windows displays this class of error when an executable starts loading and cannot find a required function in one of the DLL files it has loaded. In a Fortnite installation, that can result from mismatched, missing or corrupted game binaries, a damaged Easy Anti-Cheat component, an incomplete update, or a wider Windows, storage or driver problem. There is no single DLL that explains every installation.

The message is a launch failure, not proof of malware. It also does not identify whether the game files, the anti-cheat service, Windows itself or the drive is at fault. The practical approach is to begin with repairs that change only Fortnite’s managed files, then widen the scope if the error survives.

Choose the safest fix first
| Fix | What it changes | Local-file risk | Typical time and download | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Restart Windows | Releases locked processes and pending launcher operations | Very low | Minutes; no new download | General first step |
| Epic Games Launcher > Verify | Checks Fortnite’s installed files and repairs differences | Low; saved data is not affected | Depends on the files that differ | Current Epic procedure |
| Easy Anti-Cheat repair or install | Repairs or reinstalls the anti-cheat component | Low | Usually lighter than a full game reinstall | Current Epic procedure |
| Delete Win64 executables, then Verify | Forces the launcher to restore the affected binaries | Higher; the folder is temporarily incomplete | Redownloads deleted files | Historical CCBoot report from 18 June 2019 and a Driver Easy troubleshooting article |
| Reinstall, change drive or repair Windows | Replaces a broad set of game, storage or operating-system components | Highest time cost | Large download or additional maintenance | Epic escalation checklist |
Run Epic’s supported repair sequence
1. Restart the computer
Close Fortnite and Epic Games Launcher, then restart Windows from Start > Power > Restart. A restart clears a process that may still have a game executable or launcher file open and removes temporary state left by an interrupted update. After Windows returns, open the launcher and try Fortnite once.
2. Verify Fortnite in Epic Games Launcher
- Open Epic Games Launcher and select Library.
- Find Fortnite, click its three-dot menu and choose Manage.
- Click Verify and wait for validation to finish before starting the game.
Epic describes Verify as a check of the files on your computer to ensure they are not damaged or corrupted. Files that differ from the expected installation are changed or repaired. The process does not affect saved data. Do not interrupt the launcher while it is validating or replacing files; the progress indicator can pause while large archives are processed.
3. Repair Easy Anti-Cheat
Fortnite requires Easy Anti-Cheat. If Verify completes but the entry-point message remains, repair that component from the installed game files:

- In File Explorer, open the Fortnite installation and go to
FortniteGame > Binaries > Win64 > EasyAntiCheat. - Create a shortcut for the Easy Anti-Cheat setup program as described in Epic’s support procedure.
- Open the shortcut’s properties and add
repairto the shortcut target, preserving the existing executable path. Apply the change and run the shortcut. - When the repair finishes, remove the temporary shortcut or restore its original target, then launch Fortnite.
If the Easy Anti-Cheat folder or setup program is missing, Epic’s installation procedure uses EasyAntiCheat_EOS with the install prod-fn argument. Run that installation from the Fortnite files, allow it to complete, and then test the game again. If the launcher replaces files during this process, run Verify once more.
Escalate methodically if the error persists
Clear Epic Games Launcher cache
Exit the launcher completely, including its notification-area icon. Epic’s PC troubleshooting path includes clearing the launcher’s web cache, then reopening it and trying Verify again. Use the cache folders named in Epic’s current instructions for your launcher installation; do not delete the Fortnite game directory when you intend only to clear launcher cache.
Update the video driver from the hardware maker
Install the current driver offered for your graphics card and Windows edition by the card or system manufacturer. Reboot after installation, then run Fortnite. A driver update is particularly relevant when the entry-point message appeared immediately after a graphics-driver or Windows update, or when other games also fail to start. Avoid third-party DLL packages presented as driver fixes.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Run the launcher with administrator rights
Close Epic Games Launcher, right-click its shortcut and choose Run as administrator. This is a diagnostic step for permission failures, not a permanent requirement for every installation. If Fortnite launches only with elevation, check the permissions on the launcher and game folders rather than leaving unrelated applications permanently elevated.

Temporarily close overlays, recording utilities, hardware monitors and other nonessential background applications, then test a clean launch. If the game works, re-enable programs one at a time to identify the conflict. Keep security software enabled. Epic’s troubleshooting path may call for adding the Fortnite folder to Windows Security exclusions, but do that only when its stated procedure directs you to, and remove the exclusion if it does not resolve the problem.
Reinstall the launcher or Fortnite
If verification and anti-cheat repair cannot restore a consistent installation, reinstall Fortnite through Epic Games Launcher. If the launcher itself behaves incorrectly, reinstall the launcher as well. A game reinstall removes the local installation and requires a substantial download, so confirm that you know where saved data is stored and that you have enough free space before proceeding. Sign in to the same Epic account after reinstalling.

Try another drive
An installation that repeatedly loses or corrupts files can point to storage trouble rather than Fortnite alone. Epic includes trying another drive in its PC checklist. Install to a drive with adequate free space and a stable connection, then run Verify on the new installation. Repeated corruption on more than one drive warrants hardware and Windows checks.
Check the disk and Windows system files
Use Epic’s disk-error and Windows-file-repair guidance when the problem survives a clean game installation. In an elevated Command Prompt, Windows administrators commonly begin with sfc /scannow; if Windows reports component-store problems, follow Microsoft’s current DISM repair guidance for the affected Windows version. Restart after repairs and verify Fortnite again. Stop if a disk check reports hardware failure, and back up important files before further testing.

The historical 2019 Binaries workaround
A CCBoot page dated 18 June 2019 reported that Fortnite stopped showing the error after the executable files in Epic Gamesortniteortnitegameinariesin64 were deleted and the installation was verified in Epic Games Launcher. A Driver Easy article similarly listed clearing the Binaries files, verification, Easy Anti-Cheat repair, reinstalling Fortnite and updating graphics drivers.

Those reports describe an older build, so treat the method as a recovery option rather than a guaranteed fix for current Fortnite versions. If you use it:
- Exit Fortnite and Epic Games Launcher completely.
- Open the installed Fortnite directory and confirm that you are in
FortniteGameinariesin64. Do not delete files from a similarly named Windows or system folder. - Back up the folder or create a restore point if you are comfortable doing so.
- Delete only the Fortnite executable files identified by the historical procedure, not unrelated folders or personal files.
- Reopen Epic Games Launcher, select Fortnite, choose Manage, and run Verify. Let the launcher restore every missing file before testing.
Folder names and file layouts can change between builds. If the path or files do not match your installation, do not improvise by deleting DLLs elsewhere; use Verify, anti-cheat repair and Epic’s current support steps instead.
Match the symptom to the next action
| What you observe | Most useful next action |
|---|---|
| The error appeared after an interrupted update | Restart Windows, then run Verify. |
| Verify reports repaired files but launch still fails | Repair or reinstall Easy Anti-Cheat, then retry. |
| Fortnite and other games fail with DLL or entry-point errors | Update the graphics driver and perform Windows system-file and disk checks. |
| The game works after closing overlays | Re-enable background applications individually to find the conflict. |
| Files become damaged again after a reinstall | Try another drive and investigate storage or Windows errors. |
| The 2019 deletion method changed nothing | Do not keep deleting files; use Epic’s escalation path and contact support. |
What not to do
- Do not download a replacement DLL from an unofficial site. A DLL may be incompatible, tampered with or intended for a different build.
- Do not delete the entire Windows
System32folder or copy files into it to silence the message. - Do not assume that one named DLL is the universal cause; the error can arise from several mismatched components.
- Do not repeatedly interrupt Verify, anti-cheat setup or a reinstall while files are being written.
- Do not disable antivirus protection permanently. Use any security exclusion only as a narrowly scoped, temporary troubleshooting step when Epic’s instructions call for it.
When to contact Epic Player Support
Contact Epic Player Support after you have recorded the exact message, completed Verify, repaired or installed Easy Anti-Cheat and worked through the relevant escalation steps. Include your Windows version, graphics hardware, Fortnite installation drive, the point at which the error began, and whether other applications show similar failures. If disk checks report errors or Windows files cannot be repaired, contact the PC or storage manufacturer as well; Fortnite support cannot replace failing hardware.
Quick Recap
If Epic’s manual steps do not resolve the problem, Outbyte PC Repair is an optional Windows repair shortcut. It can address more than 100 common Windows issues where possible, including broken system elements, invalid redirects and shared DLL files, and it includes settings tweaks, temporary and cache cleanup, privacy warnings, vulnerability checks, a real-time boost, file shredder and app-crash log. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7, offers a free trial by category for at least two days, then requires a subscription. It complements antivirus software rather than replacing it, and results vary.
