How to Set Up Razer Synapse Macros for World of Warcraft on Mac

Razer’s current macro guides use Synapse 4, while its documented Mac support is for legacy Synapse 2. Check system and device compatibility before configuring a World of Warcraft macro.

First, check compatibility: Razer’s current macro setup instructions use Synapse 4, but the available Razer support information does not establish that Synapse 4 macro configuration is supported on current macOS. Razer’s documented Mac support is for legacy Synapse 2 on Mac OS X 10.10–10.14. Confirm that your exact macOS version, Razer device and Synapse version are supported before following the steps below. [Razer Synapse 4 support] [Razer Synapse 2 support]

If your installed Synapse version supports your device and system, creating a macro and assigning it to a key are separate tasks. The Synapse 4 process is to record and save the macro, then choose a programmable device control and assign the saved macro to it. A device’s ability to record inputs does not, by itself, mean that using those inputs in World of Warcraft is permitted.

Check your Razer software and Mac compatibility first

The instructions Razer currently provides for macro creation and assignment are for Synapse 4. Its retrieved Mac support page, however, documents Synapse 2 for Mac OS X 10.10–10.14; the available sources do not confirm current macOS support for Synapse 4 macro configuration. Treat the steps below as Synapse 4 guidance for a device and system confirmed to be supported—not as proof that Synapse 4 works on your Mac. [Razer macro assignment guide] [Razer Synapse 2 system requirements]

Version matters if you are using an older guide. Razer says Synapse 3 stopped receiving updates and cloud services on February 3, 2026; installed devices remain configurable in Synapse 3, and Razer identifies Synapse 4 as its official replacement. For Synapse 2, Razer says cloud-related features ended October 28, 2025, while existing local profiles and macros remain available on existing PCs. Its Mac support listing specifies Mac OS X 10.10–10.14 and English-only support. [Razer Synapse 3 support] [Razer Synapse 2 support]

Before proceeding, verify these points against Razer’s current support information for your setup:

  • Your macOS release is supported by the Synapse version you intend to use.
  • Your exact Razer peripheral is supported by that version.
  • The device has a programmable control available for the assignment you want; some controls cannot be remapped.
  • You know whether your intended method is Synapse software configuration or a device’s on-the-fly recording feature.

Create and assign a macro in Synapse 4

Razer’s documented Synapse 4 workflow separates macro recording from assigning a saved macro to a device control. The following steps reflect Razer’s guides; menu labels may differ in another Synapse version. [Razer macro assignment guide] [Razer mouse macro guide]

Record and save the macro

  1. Connect the supported Razer device and open the Synapse version confirmed for your system.
  2. Open MACRO and choose New Macro. Give it a name that will make it easy to identify later.
  3. Choose the recording and delay options offered by your installed software. Start recording, enter the intended keystrokes or mouse functions, and stop recording when finished.
  4. Save the macro. Razer’s mouse guide documents recording keystrokes or mouse functions, then stopping and saving.

Assign it to a key or button

  1. Select your device in Synapse, then select the programmable key or button you want to configure.
  2. Choose MACRO, select the saved macro and choose a playback option.
  3. Save the assignment. If the control cannot be remapped, select a different programmable control if your device offers one.

Test the input deliberately

Test a simple, intentional input sequence in an appropriate setting before relying on it. Razer’s guides describe recording and assigning macros; they do not verify a particular Mac setup or provide a Mac-specific troubleshooting procedure. If the menus or options differ, check that the tutorial matches your installed Synapse version and supported device rather than assuming an older video applies.

Keep the intended World of Warcraft use within the rules

Blizzard’s end-user terms prohibit unauthorized cheats and bots, including software or code that automates control of a game. The retrieved terms page is in Spanish and shows a revision date of November 30, 2023; it is not a ruling on every possible macro design or current enforcement decision. Check Blizzard’s currently applicable policies for the specific use you have in mind. [Blizzard end-user license terms]

Razer’s older mouse FAQ gives recording multiple World of Warcraft spells to a button as an example of an on-the-fly macro. That describes a device feature; it does not establish current Mac compatibility or Blizzard approval. Razer advises checking the mouse specifications to see whether on-the-fly macro recording is available on a particular model. [Razer mouse FAQ]

Choose the setup based on what is actually supported

There is not enough in the available Razer material to give a complete current Mac device compatibility matrix or to verify every Synapse 4 workflow on macOS. Compare the specific setup facts rather than assuming that a macro-capable Razer device will work the same way across systems:
