On the PS5 your family member will use, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play, then select Enable. The game owner’s account must enable the setting and purchase and download the game. Other users on that PS5 can then play those games, including while the console is offline. The setting can be enabled on only one PS5 at a time for that account.
Enable Console Sharing on the PS5 your family member will use
- On that PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable. If the owner’s account already has Console Sharing enabled on another PS5, disable it on that console first.
- Sign in to the family member’s own user profile to play. The owner’s account must have purchased and downloaded the game.
Sony says other users of the enabled console can “play games and media you’ve purchased and downloaded,” even when that PS5 is offline. PlayStation’s Console Sharing and Offline Play instructions describe access for anyone who uses the console; joining the owner’s PlayStation family group is not listed as a setup requirement.
What sharing does—and does not—mean
Console Sharing makes eligible content available to other users on the enabled PS5. It does not transfer ownership to the family member or give their account the right to redeem the owner’s games. The access is tied to the owner’s account and the console where sharing is enabled.
One PS5 at a time: moving sharing to another console
PlayStation allows Console Sharing and Offline Play on one PS5 at a time per account. To move it, disable the setting on the previously enabled PS5, then enable it on the new one. This means the family member’s PS5 becomes the account’s enabled shared console; it is not a way to enable sharing on multiple PS5s simultaneously.

If you no longer have the old PS5
You can remotely deactivate all devices from PlayStation Account Management. Sony limits remote all-device deactivation to once every six months. Because this action affects all devices, use it only when you cannot deactivate the old console directly.
How PlayStation Plus benefits work
Some PlayStation Plus benefits can be shared with other users on the enabled PS5, but not all. PlayStation lists online storage and redeeming Plus games on another account as benefits that cannot be shared. The details depend on the benefit and subscription plan; PlayStation’s Plus-sharing guide explains which benefits are available to other users.

Games accessed through a Plus subscription are different from games the owner bought outright: access requires the relevant active subscription and continued availability under the applicable plan. Sharing does not give the family member their own subscription entitlement or let them redeem the owner’s monthly games.
