On PC, show FPS in Elden Ring with the Steam in-game performance monitor, NVIDIA App overlay, or AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition overlay. On Steam Deck, use the SteamOS performance overlay. These are platform or graphics-software overlays; the cited documentation does not establish an FPS-counter setting inside Elden Ring itself.
Choose an overlay for your platform
| Platform or software | How to display FPS | Useful details |
|---|---|---|
| Steam on PC | Steam Settings > In Game > Performance Monitor | Choose a display detail level and screen placement; the monitor can show FPS and system-performance information. Steam Support |
| NVIDIA App on PC | Press Alt+R to toggle the statistics overlay | Configure it through Alt+Z > Statistics > Configure heads up display. Available for desktop and laptop GeForce RTX and GeForce GTX 600 Series-and-newer users. NVIDIA Support |
| AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition on PC | Enable Show Metrics Overlay and include Frame Rate; Ctrl+Shift+O toggles the overlay by default | Use Hotkey Settings in AMD Software to check or change the shortcut. AMD documentation |
| Steam Deck | Turn on the SteamOS performance overlay from the Deck’s performance controls | Elden Ring is listed as Steam Deck Verified in the Steam store; exact current menu navigation is not specified by the cited documentation. |
Show FPS with Steam on PC
- Open Steam and select Steam > Settings.
- Select In Game and enable Performance Monitor.
- Choose the monitor’s detail level and screen placement.
- Launch Elden Ring through Steam and confirm that the Steam overlay is available in-game.
Steam’s monitor can display FPS alongside system-performance information. Its overlay controls are documented under Settings > In Game. See Steam Support’s Performance Monitor instructions.

Show FPS with NVIDIA App
- Open NVIDIA App and go to Settings > Features; make sure In-Game Overlay is enabled.
- Launch Elden Ring and press Alt+R to toggle the statistics overlay.
- To configure the overlay, press Alt+Z, then open Statistics > Configure heads up display.
If Alt+R does nothing, check NVIDIA App’s shortcut settings: the shortcut may have been changed, or the in-game overlay may be disabled. NVIDIA documents overlay support for desktop and laptop GeForce RTX and GeForce GTX 600 Series-and-newer users. See its In-Game Performance and Latency Overlay documentation.

Show FPS with AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition
- Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition and find its performance metrics or overlay controls.
- Enable Show Metrics Overlay and make sure Frame Rate is selected.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+O to show or hide the overlay, provided the default hotkey is still assigned.
To verify or change the shortcut, search for Hotkey Settings in AMD Software. AMD lists Frame Rate as a real-time metric and documents the default overlay shortcut in its metrics overlay instructions.

Show FPS on Steam Deck
Use the performance overlay in SteamOS’s performance controls. Elden Ring is currently marked Verified for Steam Deck in its Steam store listing. The cited Steam documentation confirms the Deck compatibility program and overlay capability, but does not provide exact current menu labels or navigation steps; the controls may depend on the SteamOS version.
What about PlayStation and Xbox?
Bandai Namco lists PlayStation and Xbox versions of Elden Ring, but the available official documentation does not verify steps for displaying an FPS counter on those console editions. It also does not establish an FPS-counter setting in the game’s menus. See Bandai Namco’s Elden Ring page for the listed platforms.

What the counter tells you—and what it does not
An overlay reports performance information while the game runs; it does not guarantee a particular frame rate. The cited overlay documentation describes the counters and their controls, not Elden Ring benchmark results for a particular PC, Deck configuration, or console. A displayed FPS value should be treated as a reading for your current setup and moment in play, not a promised performance level.
