To simulate most or all of a season in Football Manager 2024 without managing each match, use My Profile → Go On Holiday, set a return date near the season’s end, and review the club-management options before confirming. If you only want to skip individual matches, use Instant Result where your edition supports it; it is not a universal desktop feature.

How to simulate a season with Go On Holiday
- Open My Profile → Go On Holiday.
- Choose a return date close to the end of the season you want to simulate. Season end dates vary by league and competition, so select a calendar date that fits your save rather than assuming a universal date.
- Review how the club will be run while you are away. The holiday interface lets you set the duration and club-handling options.
- Check player-offer handling before confirming. Dot Esports warns that enabling acceptance of all offers can lead to unwanted player sales; leave that setting off unless you intend to delegate those decisions. Dot Esports’ FM24 holiday guide.
- If relevant to your situation, check whether the game should automatically apply for managerial roles while you are away.
- Confirm the holiday and let the save advance to the return date.
Holiday is the closest fit for a fully unattended season advance. You give up direct control during the selected absence, so decide in advance how much authority the game should have over club decisions.
When Instant Result makes more sense
Instant Result skips a fixture to the final whistle, rather than sending the manager away for a chosen period. That makes it useful if you want to bypass selected matches but still handle decisions between them. On November 7, 2023, Sports Interactive PR and Content Executive Andrew Sinclair described it as a feature of FM24 Console: “If you’re in a hurry to get to the top, one option that FM24 Console brings to the table that you can’t get in the desktop classic is ‘Instant Result’.” He added: “That allows you to skip straight to the final whistle and speed through the seasons.” Xbox Wire’s FM24 Console article. FM24 editions do not all have identical features. Check the match or product menus for the edition you are playing rather than assuming Instant Result is available on desktop or every platform.

Protect your save before a long advance
Check your autosave preferences before starting a lengthy holiday. SEGA Support notes that autosaves overwrite the current save slot; preferences let you disable autosaving or change its interval. SEGA Support’s autosave instructions. If you want a checkpoint you can return to, save to a separate slot before advancing.
What to expect from simulation speed
There is no source-backed fixed runtime for a full-season advance. Dot Esports says FM24 appeared to simulate faster than earlier games, but gives no measured time or test conditions; actual speed depends on hardware and the save. Review the season’s results and the club or squad changes made during your absence before resuming normal management. The extent of those changes depends on the responsibilities and offer-handling choices you selected for the holiday.
