If you want to avoid repeating Dragonflight’s original zone sequence on an alt, unlock Adventure Mode on your main first. Blizzard’s documented requirement is to reach level 68 and complete the campaign storyline in all four original Dragon Isles zones. Adventure Mode lets alts choose their zone order; Blizzard’s guide does not say it automatically completes every campaign quest for them.
What you need to unlock Adventure Mode
Blizzard’s Dragonflight: Getting into the Wing of Things says Adventure Mode unlocks for alts after your main reaches level 68 and completes the campaign storyline for each of these zones:
- The Waking Shores
- Ohn’ahran Plains
- The Azure Span
- Thaldraszus
The requirement is tied to the main character. The guide does not specify a separate level or campaign requirement for each alt.
What Adventure Mode changes for an alt
With Adventure Mode unlocked, an alt can explore the four zones in any order and access World and Profession Trainer Quests. In practical terms, this is the documented option for avoiding the original, fixed zone sequence.

Does it skip every Dragonflight campaign quest?
Not according to Blizzard’s documented description. It explains the freedom to choose a zone order and access to certain quests, but does not say that Adventure Mode marks every campaign chapter complete or removes all campaign quests from an alt’s experience. Treat it as flexible progression, not a confirmed blanket story skip.
The official guide does not establish the current NPC, prompt text, or exact in-game steps for activating Adventure Mode on an alt. Those details may depend on the current game client, so check in-game rather than relying on an unverified NPC or menu route.

How this differs from the new-player leveling path
Blizzard’s 2025 description of the updated new-player experience says players can experience the entirety of Dragonflight, including Story Mode raids, while leveling to 70. That describes the new-player leveling journey; it does not change or replace the documented Adventure Mode unlock requirements for alts.
