To solve Basement Door Puzzle #8, reach the Haunted House back room, break the lion statue holding a key beside the bookstand with your Royal Pickaxe, then use the dropped Eerie Basement Door Key on the basement door outside the house. Collect the Eerie Basement Door inside.
Before you start: unlock the Haunted House back room
You need access to the Haunted House’s back room before you can find the key. In the 2026 event walkthrough, that means completing Haunted House puzzles #6 and #7 first. The key is in the back room, not on the exterior basement door.
Find and collect the Eerie Basement Door Key
- Enter the Haunted House and go to the back room.
- Look beside the bookstand for a lion statue holding a key.
- Equip your Royal Pickaxe and break the statue.
- Pick up the Eerie Basement Door Key that drops nearby.
The key is concealed by the statue, so looking around the room for a loose key will not complete this step. The walkthrough for the puzzle is at c001.
Unlock the basement door and claim the reward
- Leave the Haunted House and locate the basement door outside it on the Haunted Floating Festival island.
- Use the Eerie Basement Door Key on the door to open it.
- Go inside and collect the Eerie Basement Door.
When Puzzle #8 was available
For the 2026 event, the first eight puzzles—including Basement Door Puzzle #8—were listed as available starting October 7, 2026. Puzzle #9 was scheduled for October 18, 2026. Those dates apply to that event schedule, not necessarily to a future rerun. The official Disney Dreamlight Valley event page describes the Haunted Floating Festival as a Halloween event with a floating world, puzzles, and exclusive rewards; it does not give the steps for Puzzle #8.
