Decode the Laboratory’s periodic-table clue
- Find both tables. In the Laboratory, locate the numbered incomplete periodic table and the complete reference table.
- Match positions. For each numbered square, identify the element in the same position on the complete table and record its chemical symbol.
- Read the symbols in numerical order. The one- and two-letter symbols form PuSHThReEuPaFTeRnINe, which reads “PUSH THREE UP AFTER NINE.”
The clue describes the lever sequence: move lever 9 first, then lever 3. The puzzle solution and sequence are described in community and editorial guides, rather than official developer documentation: Blue Prince Wiki: Laboratory and Gamepressure: Laboratory.

Power the machine and pull the levers
- Supply steam to the Laboratory. The Boiler Room can provide steam when connected through the rooms’ ducts; another steam-connected room can also work.
- Check the starting positions. The relevant levers must be in their default positions before you begin.
- Pull lever 9, then lever 3. The machine activates and permanently unlocks Blackbridge Grotto.
If the machine does not respond, check that steam is reaching the Laboratory and that the levers started in their default positions. The levers have no effect when power is diverted away.
What Blackbridge Grotto unlocks
Blackbridge Grotto is behind a mechanical door along the Private Drive, between the main grounds and the Campsite. Its Blackbridge protocol lets you remotely access one offline terminal per day. You do not need to visit the Grotto each day to use the protocol; the game wiki says you can initiate remote access through another terminal: Blue Prince Wiki: Blackbridge Grotto.
