There is no reliable fixed number to pull for the Toluca Prison gallows puzzle. First match the six poem beginnings with their endings as they appear in your game, then choose the completed poem that describes a crime committed without malicious intent. Pull the noose marked with that poem’s number.
Get the Execution Lever from the prison scales
The gallows puzzle is in the yard at Toluca Prison, and you need the Execution Lever before you can start it. Complete the prison’s weight-and-scale puzzle; the final arrangement reported by the walkthrough is:

- Left side: Lightest (2), Light (3), and Heavy (5)
- Right side: Starter (1), Medium (4), and Heaviest (6)
Once the scales are balanced in that arrangement, take the Execution Lever to the gallows monument in the yard and insert it.
Match the six poem fragments
The monument displays six numbered poem beginnings, with corresponding endings to match. Read all the fragments and connect each beginning to the ending that completes the same account of a crime. Use the text in your current game rather than assuming that fragment positions or a memorized answer key will match your playthrough.

Choose the crime described as unintentional
After pairing the fragments, consider the motive described by each completed poem. Select the one that presents the crime as committed without malicious intent. The relevant distinction is intent—not simply whether a line sounds tragic or makes the criminal seem sympathetic. For example, one guide describes stealing medicine to relieve pain as a relevant motive, but that example does not establish a universal poem number or guarantee the same wording in your game.

Find the gallows marked with the number of the poem you identified and pull its noose to proceed. The poem combinations and resulting number can vary, so a number from another player’s run—or from a different difficulty—may not be yours. The walkthroughs cover light, standard, and hard puzzle difficulties, but do not establish a fixed numbered answer across them.
