You can stream Quest 2 gameplay directly to Discord with the official Discord app for Meta Quest. Install it from the Meta Horizon Store, join a voice channel or call, and start sharing from the call controls. You do not need a phone or computer for this route. If the stream option is missing or game audio is unreliable, cast the headset view to a computer and share that browser window in Discord instead.
Stream directly from Quest 2
Discord announced native Meta Quest support on June 30, 2026, including direct gameplay streaming from the headset. Discord’s Meta Quest FAQ lists Quest 2 as supported. The app also supports servers, direct and group messages, voice calls, and video calls using a Meta Avatar.
What you need
- A Meta Quest 2 and a Discord account.
- The Discord app installed from the Meta Horizon Store.
- A stable Wi-Fi connection.
- Access to a Discord server voice channel, or a direct or group call. In a server, your role or channel must allow video sharing.
The app is free to download, though some Discord functions require Nitro. The headset’s built-in microphone can be used for calls. See Discord’s announcement of Discord on Meta Quest.
Install and start sharing
- Open the Meta Horizon Store on your Quest 2, search for Discord, and select Install or Get.
- Open Discord and sign in, or create an account.
- Join the server voice channel or start the DM or group call where you want to share.
- In the call interface, look for the stream, share, or Go Live control. Choose the option to share or stream the current Quest gameplay, select the destination if prompted, and confirm.
- Ask someone in the call to confirm they can see the game and hear its audio.
Discord confirms that Quest gameplay can be streamed directly, but its published announcement does not specify a complete button-by-button sequence for the current headset interface. Labels may vary with the app version. To stop, reopen the call controls and choose the visible Stop Streaming, Stop Sharing, or equivalent option.

Use a computer if direct streaming is unavailable
Casting the Quest view to a computer and sharing that browser window is the most useful fallback. It also gives you Discord’s desktop controls and a straightforward way to select the content viewers see.
Cast the headset view
- Connect the Quest 2 and computer to the same Wi-Fi network. If the router separates 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, Meta recommends using the same frequency band for both. Sign in to the same Meta account on the headset and casting destination.
- Put on the headset and press the Meta button on the right controller (some interfaces may still say Oculus).
- Open Quick controls, select Cast, then choose Web, Computer, or the available nearby computer destination. Select Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
- On the computer, open Meta’s current casting instructions and follow its link or steps to the casting destination. Sign in with the same Meta account and wait for the Quest view to appear.
Share the cast in Discord
- Open Discord on the computer and join the target voice channel.
- Click the screen-streaming icon near the lower-left voice controls.
- Select the browser window showing the Quest cast rather than the entire desktop, then click Go Live.
- Have a viewer join and check the picture and sound.
Discord’s Go Live and Screen Share guide describes selecting an application window or the whole screen. Sharing just the browser avoids exposing unrelated desktop content and does not depend on Discord recognizing the cast as a game.

Get game audio to viewers and prevent echo
Picture and sound are separate checks: a viewer may see the Quest view without receiving game audio. Discord documents application-audio capture for its Windows and macOS desktop clients, Chrome, and mobile clients; it says audio sharing is unavailable on Linux and some unsupported browsers. For the computer fallback, use Windows desktop Discord, macOS desktop Discord, or Chrome if captured application audio matters. This does not guarantee that every native Quest stream exposes the same audio behavior.
If viewers see video but hear no game audio
- Confirm the stream is not muted on the streamer’s side.
- Ask viewers to open the stream controls and check Mute and Stream Volume.
- For the computer method, share the browser application window. If audio capture still fails, try Discord’s desktop app or Chrome and check the browser and operating-system audio permissions.
- If the native Quest stream continues to send video without game audio, switch to casting to a computer and sharing the cast.
If you hear an echo
- Use headphones rather than playing cast audio through speakers where the Quest microphone can pick it up.
- Avoid joining the same Discord call on both the Quest and computer unless you have deliberately routed their audio. If both devices are connected, mute the microphone on one.
- If the Quest handles voice chat, disable speakers on the casting computer.
- Ask viewers to mute their microphones when they are not speaking.
Fix common problems
The computer does not appear as a casting target
- Check that the headset and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network and, on a dual-band network, the same frequency band. Confirm that both use the same Meta account.
- VPNs, guest-network isolation, corporate or hotel network policies, cellular tethering, and some mesh-network configurations may interfere with local discovery. These are reported troubleshooting causes, not a guarantee that every network of that type will fail. See this Meta community casting discussion.
- Restart the headset and browser, then try starting the cast before launching the game.

The Discord stream control is missing
- Make sure you have joined a voice channel or started an active call.
- In a server, ask a moderator to check that your role and the channel allow the Video permission.
- Update Discord and check that you are signed in to the intended account.
- Look for the current Discord app in the Quest store rather than relying on older browser or sideloading instructions.

The stream lags or disconnects
- Move the headset and computer closer to the router and, where practical, use a 5 GHz or newer Wi-Fi connection.
- Pause other high-bandwidth activity and reduce Discord stream resolution or frame rate if the controls are available.
- Try the computer-casting route if the native stream is unstable. Avoid casting and recording at the same time if performance is already poor.
Streaming adds network and processing load. Meta cautions that casting can increase battery use or affect in-app performance; the effect depends on the setup and workload.

Which streaming method should you use?

For Discord’s documented screen-sharing functionality, standard users can stream up to 720p at 30 fps, while Nitro and Nitro Classic subscribers can stream up to 4K at 60 fps. These are Discord’s stated platform limits, not a guarantee that the Quest app offers every desktop quality control. Check Discord’s screen-sharing documentation for the current details.

Not for ordinary Quest 2 gameplay sharing: start with the native Discord app, then use Meta casting to a computer if you need a fallback. OBS and a capture card are advanced production options, not prerequisites. Meta casting is also separate from Quest Link or Air Link; connecting a USB cable does not by itself provide a Discord-ready mirror. Can you stream PC VR gameplay from Quest 2 to Discord?
This guide covers showing the Quest headset’s view to Discord. Playing PC VR through Quest Link or Air Link is a different workflow; casting the headset to a browser is not the same thing as sending a PC VR feed to Discord. If the game is running on the computer, share that game window through Discord’s desktop screen-sharing controls.
