You can’t switch to third-person view for ordinary on-foot gameplay in the unmodded Cyberpunk 2077. Third-person views are available while driving; on-foot third person requires a PC mod. Photo Mode lets you frame screenshots, but it does not change the gameplay camera.
Can you play on foot in third person?
Not with a built-in setting in the base game. CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.0 notes document third-person camera choices for vehicles, but do not describe a general on-foot perspective toggle. Standard on-foot play remains first person.

How to change the camera while driving
Third-person vehicle views are available while driving. Update 2.0 added three camera-distance choices and vehicle camera settings. The patch notes do not identify one universal button or key for cycling views, so check the in-game controls or key bindings for your platform to find the assigned input.
Can Photo Mode give you a third-person view?
Photo Mode is for taking screenshots, not playing through the game with a third-person camera. CD PROJEKT RED describes it as a way to take screenshots. Open it with N on PC, L3 + R3 on PlayStation, or LS + RS on Xbox. Update 2.2 expanded Photo Mode’s free Drone Camera and composition controls, but those remain screenshot tools: Update 2.2 notes.

How to get on-foot third person on PC with a mod
A PC mod can add an on-foot third-person perspective. The Nexus Mods listing for Immersive Third Person – Best Of Both Worlds describes a switch key and automatic switching that returns to first person during combat, driving, cutscenes, terminal use, and other situations.
Check requirements and limitations first
The listing names these requirements: Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty, RED4ext, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, and Cyber Engine Tweaks. Native Settings UI is also required for the mod’s settings tab. The project is marked as a work in progress, and its listing warns of possible bugs and mod conflicts.
