If your stats exist only in a logged-out browser or app, protect that local data and link it before switching devices.
Before switching devices
If your current phone, tablet, or computer still shows the correct Wordle record, do not clear its data yet.

- Open official Wordle and check the Stats panel.
- Sign in to the New York Times account you want to use.
- Reopen Stats and confirm that your streak and statistics are still visible.
- Do not clear cookies, site data, app data, uninstall the app, switch browser profiles, or use private browsing until verification is complete.
NYT says that saved puzzle progress, statistics, and streaks are available across devices and browsers when you are signed in to the same account. See the NYT Games subscription and account guidance.

How to move Wordle stats to a new device
- Open the official NYT Wordle page on the old device, or open the official NYT Games app.
- Use the account or sign-in control and log in to your intended New York Times account.
- Open Wordle’s Stats panel and make sure the existing record remains visible.
- On the new device, open Wordle through the official NYT website or Games app.
- Sign in with the same NYT account and the same authentication method.
- Open Stats and check the streak, games played, win percentage, and distribution if displayed.
Do not assume that two accounts are identical because they use the same name, phone, or subscription platform. Confirm the account email. If you normally choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google, use that same option on the second device; entering an email and password can lead to a different account.

If your stats are only on the old device
NYT says progress made while signed out is stored locally on the device. In practice, that can tie the record to a particular browser profile, app installation, or device. It may not appear in a new browser or on a replacement phone.
Use this preservation-first procedure:
- Keep the old device and the browser or app containing the record intact.
- Open official Wordle while the old stats are still visible.
- Sign in to the New York Times account that should own the record.
- Return to Stats and verify that the record is still present after signing in.
- Only then sign in to that account on the new device.
NYT’s documentation confirms account-based synchronization, but it does not promise a universal way to import or merge every historical guest record. There is also no verified official manual export file that can be used for all situations.
Browser, iPhone, iPad, and Android instructions
Web browser
Go to the official NYT Games or Wordle website, select the account or sign-in control, and use the same NYT account as on the original device. Then open Stats. A bookmark, a browser-sync feature, or using the same browser brand does not by itself transfer logged-out Wordle data.
iPhone or iPad
Install the official NYT Games: Wordle & Crossword app from the Apple App Store. Sign in with the same NYT account used on the old device, open Wordle, and check Stats.

Android phone or tablet
Install the official NYT Games app from Google Play. Sign in with the same NYT account, open Wordle, and check Stats.
The NYT Games app help page says the app includes Wordle statistics and streak information. NYT also supports Games access through web browsers and its iOS and Android apps.
Does the app sync with the website?
Your account-linked Wordle record should be available in the official website and Games app when you are signed in to the same account. Installing the app alone does not transfer a record that was stored only as guest data in a browser.

What to do when stats are missing
- Check the account email. Sign out and back in, then compare it with the account used on the old device.
- Check the login route. Use Continue with Apple or Continue with Google if that is how the account was created or accessed.
- Check the old device again. If the record is still there, do not erase its browser or app data.
- Use the same platform first. If the old record was in Safari, check the same Safari profile; if it was in an app, check that app before changing platforms.
- Reload Wordle and Stats. A fresh sign-in or reload may be needed to display account data.
- Update the app and operating system. NYT notes that mobile devices must meet current compatibility requirements.
- Contact NYT Games support if the record remains on the old device but does not appear under the verified account.
For app problems, the NYT Games help page gives these reporting paths: on iOS, tap the person icon, scroll to App Info, and choose Report a Bug. On Android, open Settings or the person icon and select Send App Feedback.
If the old phone is lost, broken, or wiped
The outcome depends on where the record was stored:
- Already linked to an NYT account: Sign in to that account on the replacement device. NYT says account-linked progress, statistics, and streaks can be retained after changing devices.
- Stored only locally: Recovery may not be possible through the supported account-sync process after the browser or app data has been erased. NYT does not promise recovery of deleted local guest data.
- The old device still works but was never linked: Do not reset it. Sign in there first and verify Stats before moving to the replacement device.
If only the numbers can be viewed but cannot be linked, save a screenshot or record them manually. That preserves a reference, but it does not recreate official account history or restore an incorrect streak.
What can erase or hide local guest stats?
Logged-out progress is local rather than account-based. Switching browser profiles, using a different browser, opening private or incognito mode, clearing cookies or site data, uninstalling the app, or resetting the device can therefore put that record at risk. These effects can vary by platform, so treat them as precautions—not as a guarantee that every local record will disappear.

Account-linked records should not be confused with ordinary device backups. An iCloud or Google backup may restore an app or device settings, but it is not the official Wordle synchronization method.
Do you need a paid subscription?
You need a New York Times account for account-based syncing. However, a paid Games subscription should not automatically be treated as mandatory solely to move an already account-linked streak. NYT’s subscription materials distinguish account login from Games subscription access, and access rules can vary by plan, region, and product changes.
Some Wordle access, archives, or Games features may depend on your current NYT access or subscription. Check the official Games subscription page and current account terms before subscribing. If your only goal is to move an existing account-linked record, buying a subscription is not a substitute for signing in to the correct account.
Should two people share one NYT account?
No, not if each person wants separate Wordle statistics. Account synchronization is designed to maintain one player’s record across devices. If two household members play through the same account, their activity may be associated with the same record, making the statistics unsuitable as separate histories.
Use separate NYT accounts for separate records. Do not assume that one account provides separate Wordle profiles unless NYT explicitly documents that feature.
