To hide everything Litematica renders, press M + R. To hide only the schematic’s ghost blocks, press M + G. These are different toggles: neither unloads Litematica or removes a loaded schematic. For other features—such as the colored overlay, selection boxes, tool item, or Easy Place—use their separate settings.
Choose what you want to turn off
| What you want to hide or disable | Default action or setting | What it affects |
|---|---|---|
| All Litematica rendering | M + R | Turns Litematica-rendered visuals on or off; it does not unload the mod or schematic. |
| Schematic ghost blocks only | M + G | Hides the schematic rendering while other Litematica visuals may remain. |
| Colored schematic-difference overlay | M + C → Visuals → enableSchematicOverlay | Disables the colored overlay without turning off the ghost schematic. |
| Area-selection boxes | M + C → Visuals → enableAreaSelectionBoxesRendering | Hides selection boxes without necessarily hiding schematic rendering. |
| Tool-item behavior | M + T | Toggles Litematica’s tool functionality, separately from rendering. |
| Easy Place | M + C → Generic → easyPlaceMode | Changes Easy Place mode; it does not control rendering. |
Hide all Litematica visuals
Press M + R to toggle all Litematica rendering. The corresponding configuration option is enableRendering, under Visuals in the Litematica configuration menu. This is the quickest choice if you simply want the blueprint and other Litematica-rendered elements out of view. It does not disable the mod’s other functions or delete the schematic. (Litematica FAQ; configuration example)
Hide only the blueprint or its colored overlay
Turn off schematic ghost blocks
Press M + G to toggle schematic rendering. The setting is enableSchematicRendering under Visuals. This leaves other Litematica interface elements or visuals available, unlike the all-rendering toggle. (Litematica FAQ; Modrinth listing for Minecraft 1.21.4)
Keep the schematic but remove mismatch colors
Open the configuration with M + C, go to Visuals, and turn off enableSchematicOverlay. This removes the colored schematic-difference overlay while leaving the ghost structure itself on. The related hotkey is toggleOverlayRendering; it may have no key assigned by default. To set one, use M + C → Hotkeys → toggleOverlayRendering. (developer discussion; configuration example)

Hide selection boxes
For cyan or white area-selection boxes, use M + C → Visuals → enableAreaSelectionBoxesRendering. Its associated hotkey is toggleAreaSelectionBoxesRendering. This control is separate from schematic rendering. (developer discussion; area-selection documentation)
Turn off the tool item or Easy Place
Disable the tool item
Press M + T to toggle Litematica’s tool-item functionality. You can also open M + C → Generic and change toolItemEnabled. The tool is normally a stick, but the configured item can differ. Turning off the functionality lets the item behave normally instead of acting as Litematica’s selection or placement tool. This is independent of the rendering setting. Disable Easy Place
Open M + C → Generic → easyPlaceMode and switch it off. To create a keyboard shortcut, go to M + C → Hotkeys → easyPlaceToggle and assign a key. Its documented default is None, so there is normally no default Easy Place shortcut. The M + R rendering toggle does not change Easy Place mode. (Easy Place documentation; Litematica FAQ)
Change Litematica’s hotkeys
Open the configuration with M + C, then select Hotkeys. Litematica uses MaLiLib’s custom hotkey system, which supports multi-key combinations; these controls generally are not listed in Minecraft’s regular Options → Controls screen.

On Fabric, if the Mod Menu mod is installed, you can also open the mod list and click the gear button beside Litematica to reach its configuration. The documented defaults are starting points: a modpack, imported configuration, or your own changes may assign different keys. (Litematica FAQ; Litematica wiki; configuration example)
If the shortcut does nothing
- Check the configured hotkey. Open Litematica settings through Mod Menu if available, then inspect Hotkeys for openGuiMainMenu, openGuiSettings, or the relevant toggle. Your keys may differ from the documented defaults. (configuration example)
- Account for keyboard layout. Litematica warns that non-QWERTY layouts can map displayed defaults differently. For example, on AZERTY, the physical key position associated with QWERTY M may correspond to the comma key. Check the key assignment rather than assuming the printed character is universal. (Litematica FAQ; Litematica wiki)
- Do not rely on Minecraft’s Controls screen. Look in Litematica’s Hotkeys tab or its Mod Menu configuration instead. (Litematica FAQ)
- Confirm the mod is loaded in the client. Litematica is a client-side mod for Minecraft: Java Edition; the client instance must load it. The server does not need Litematica installed for the client’s visual features. It is not a Bedrock Edition mod. (Litematica source repository; Modrinth listing)
- Consider third-party client conflicts only if other checks fail. The issue tracker records a Lunar Client key-mapping conflict associated with crashes when using Litematica and MaLiLib; this is a reported compatibility case, not the expected cause of an ordinary shortcut failure. (Litematica issue 827)
Unload a schematic or remove Litematica
Hiding rendering does not unload a schematic. To remove a loaded placement, open M → Schematic Placements, select the placement, and use the removal or unload control shown there. A schematic needs a placement to appear as a blueprint in the world, so removing the placement is different from merely hiding its rendering. If the goal is only to clear the view, use the rendering toggle instead. (Litematica FAQ; basic operations)

Removing the mod itself is a separate step from any in-game toggle: Litematica is installed as a client-side mod in the Java Edition game instance. The cited documentation does not specify a universal launcher workflow for uninstalling it, so use the mod-management method for the launcher and instance where you installed it.
