For the latest release timing, start with Nintendo’s Upcoming games for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch listing, then check the dated announcement for the individual game. Nintendo’s listing is useful for the current date or window; its Nintendo Direct archive preserves presentation context. Keep the date, source, and announcement date together so you can tell whether timing has changed.

Check Nintendo’s current upcoming-games listing

Nintendo’s US store page, titled “Upcoming games for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch,” is the most direct starting point for a current listing of upcoming games and their release information. It also offers wish-list functionality and says digital preorders can be preloaded for play on release. View Nintendo’s upcoming-games listing.

Treat the page as a snapshot of what is currently listed, not as a history of edits. If you need to establish when a date was announced or changed, preserve the dated announcement separately.

Use Directs and game-specific announcements for context

Nintendo Direct presentations are useful for finding the original context behind Nintendo announcements. Nintendo describes Directs as a source of important updates and news, and its archive lets you rewatch previous broadcasts. The UK Direct archive includes dated presentations, including a June 9, 2026 broadcast focused on games coming in 2026 and a September 9, 2026 broadcast.

#1 Best Overall
Mario Kart™ World (Nintendo Switch 2)
  • Race from one course to another through interconnected paths that span the world
  • Traverse mountains, forests, cities, and more—with shifting weather patterns and a day/night cycle
  • Ride on rails, jump off walls, skim across water, and more as you race for the finish line
  • Take on the adrenaline-packed Knockout Tour—a fierce 24-driver elimination mode
  • Explore courses at your own pace and wander the world to discover fun surprises in Free Roam

For a third-party game, check the publisher’s own dated announcement as well. The publisher may be the source of the release-date news, and its announcement can provide the date and wording needed to compare against Nintendo’s current listing. Avoid treating an old article, retailer placeholder, or undated social post as confirmation of the current date.

Keep the precision of the release window

A specific day, a season, and a year-only window do not mean the same thing. Preserve the wording used in the announcement rather than turning a broad window into an implied date. Nintendo’s September 9, 2026 announcement illustrates the distinction: it gives Metroid Ravenous a January 28, 2027 launch date and Monster Hunter Wilds a December 4 date, while describing Kirby and the World Beyond as arriving “next spring” and another title as coming “in 2027.” Those are the claims in that dated announcement, not a guarantee that timing has remained unchanged since publication. Read Nintendo’s September 9 announcement.

Star Fox™ - Nintendo Switch 2
  • Blast off on a high-octane adventure to save a star system from invasion
  • Tear through space, soar across planets, and shoot loads of foes out of the sky at every step of the way
  • A cinematic take on the Star Fox 64 story, featuring fully voiced dialogue, an epic orchestral soundtrack, and a complete visual overhaul for the Nintendo Switch 2 system
  • Enter first-person mode to experience the action from inside the cockpit, and even use mouse controls to fly
  • Invite a second player* to join you as a gunner using Nintendo Switch 2 mouse controls

Check the game’s current official listing before relying on any of these dates. Release timing is time-sensitive, and the dated announcement is useful for historical context rather than a substitute for a current check.

A short record makes it easier to notice a delay or clarify what a date means. For each game, note:

Donkey Kong Bananza (Nintendo Switch 2)
  • Explore a vast underground world—by smashing your way through it!
  • A brand-new 3D platforming action adventure starring Donkey Kong and Pauline
  • Bash through just about anything in groundbreaking exploration! Crash through walls and carve tunnels—the more you smash, the more areas open up to you
  • Pair up with Pauline to use Bananza Transformations: smash through obstacles with the raw strength of Kong form, gallop with incredible speed as a Zebra, and more
  • Team up with a friend in two-player co-op as Donkey Kong and Pauline! Blast foes and terrain alike with Pauline’s voice as you explore together
  • Game title and platform or edition.
  • The latest release date or window, copied with its original precision.
  • The date the timing was announced.
  • The source URL, such as Nintendo’s listing or the publisher’s dated announcement.
  • Whether the timing differs from the previous entry.

When you revisit a game, compare the current listing with the saved dated announcement. A newer date or a narrower or broader window is easier to interpret when you have retained the previous wording and source.

How to check for a delay

  1. Open Nintendo’s current upcoming-games listing and find the game’s latest listed release information.
  2. Open the relevant dated Nintendo Direct page or the game publisher’s announcement to check the wording and announcement date.
  3. Compare the current timing with your saved record. Note whether the change is an exact date, a move to a broader window, or a new target period.
  4. Save the new wording and source URL, then check again near launch if the date matters to your plans.

The official pages reviewed do not establish a single comprehensive delay-history page or a universal delay-alert mechanism for Switch 2 games. Checking the current listing alongside title-specific dated announcements is therefore more dependable than assuming one source will notify you of every change.
