You can track Xbox playtime, achievements, Gamerscore and completion history from your Xbox profile and each game’s achievement list. For game-time details, use Xbox Support’s current Time played guidance because the menu differs between console, Xbox app and region. Achievements
Achievements are objectives attached to a game. Unlocking one adds its Gamerscore value to your account and records it in the game’s achievement list and your profile history. Gamerscore
Gamerscore is the cumulative value of the achievements you have unlocked across your Xbox account. It is an account total, not a percentage-completion measure. A player can have a high Gamerscore while leaving many achievements unfinished, especially after playing a large library of games with different achievement totals.

Time played
Xbox also provides a game-time view. The official Xbox Support page titled Time played explains how to check it, but the retrieved page does not expose a single, reliable button sequence for every console, app version or region. Treat the current support instructions for your device as authoritative rather than following an old screenshot guide.
Completion and activity history
Your profile and game achievement surfaces provide a record of unlocked objectives and remaining progress. Recent activity can also show what you have played or earned, subject to your account’s privacy settings and the surfaces Microsoft makes available in your current software version.
Check achievements from your Xbox profile
The profile is the quickest official place to review account-wide progress.
- Open your Xbox profile on the console, in the Xbox app or on the web profile surface you normally use.
- Open the achievements area. Look for the games list, recently earned achievements and your Gamerscore total.
- Select a game to open its achievement list. Review unlocked entries, locked entries and any progress indicators shown for partially completed objectives.
- Use the game’s list as the detailed view and the profile as the account-wide view. If a title does not appear immediately, allow the app or console to synchronize and check again from the game’s own achievement page.
Labels and placement can change as Xbox updates its interfaces. If your screen does not match an older guide, do not assume the data is missing; use the current profile and achievement-list entry points supplied by your device.

See what is already unlocked
Open the game in your Xbox library or profile, then open its achievements. Unlocked entries normally show their description, Gamerscore value and unlock status. This view is more precise than the account total because it limits the list to one title.
Find remaining objectives
Locked entries identify the objectives still outstanding. Read the requirement exactly as displayed: some achievements require a particular mode, difficulty, collectible or in-game event. Xbox’s list is a record of status, not always a full walkthrough, so use the game’s own help or a reputable guide when the description is ambiguous.
Interpret progress percentages carefully
A percentage can represent progress toward one achievement or toward all achievements in that game, depending on the screen. Check the heading and the surrounding labels before comparing percentages between titles. Games with different numbers of achievements should not be ranked by percentage alone.
Find your time played without relying on an old menu guide
Xbox publishes a dedicated support article titled Time played. Start there, select the instructions for your console or app, and follow the current path shown for your account and region. The exact navigation was not visible in the retrieved support excerpt, and Microsoft can move the control as dashboard and app versions change.
When the time value is missing
- Confirm that you are signed in to the Xbox account that played the game.
- Open the title’s own details or achievement surface as well as the profile view; one surface may update before another.

Use the 2026 Insider features only if your account is enrolled
Xbox Wire announced several features for Insider cohorts in 2026. Announcements describe what testers can try; they do not prove that every account has received the feature. Availability can depend on the specific Insider ring, platform, country and software build.

If an announced control is absent, check your Insider status, platform and build before troubleshooting your account. A missing preview feature does not mean your achievements or playtime were lost.
Understand hidden games and profile visibility
The hide-game option announced on April 8, 2026 is a presentation control for achievement history. It does not erase the game’s contribution to your Gamerscore, and Xbox’s announcement says activity in the title continues to be reported across Xbox. Use it when you want a cleaner public profile, not when you want to remove account totals or activity records.
Manage who can see your activity

Build a reliable personal tracking routine
A simple routine keeps your records useful even when Xbox changes its interface.
- Choose one source of truth. Use your Xbox profile for Gamerscore and achievement status, and use the official Time played instructions for playtime.
- Capture a baseline. Record your Gamerscore, the games you care about and each game’s unlocked-versus-total status. Add the date so later changes are understandable.
- Separate goals. Keep Gamerscore goals, 100-percent completion goals and time-played goals in different columns or lists. They measure different outcomes.
- Mark platform and edition. If you own multiple editions or play on console and PC, record the platform and edition alongside the title.
- Update after synchronization. Check the profile after a session has fully ended and the device is online. Offline unlocks may not appear until the account reconnects.
- Use filters only for planning. A third-party filter can help choose the next game, but verify the final status against Xbox before declaring an achievement complete.
- Review privacy separately. Decide which activity should be visible to other people, then revisit those controls after major updates.
Troubleshoot common tracking problems
An achievement did not unlock
Confirm the in-game requirement, check that the achievement remains locked in the Xbox list and reconnect the account. Some unlocks arrive after a delay. If the game requires a specific trigger, repeat that trigger only after verifying the description and the game’s current support information.
The profile total looks wrong

A newly announced feature is missing
Check whether the announcement specified Xbox Insider or Windows Insider access, then verify your ring and software build. Insider features are previews, so eligibility does not guarantee permanent access or identical behavior.
Someone else can see more than expected
Open Xbox’s online safety and privacy settings and review activity, game history and profile audiences. Save the changes, sign out of other sessions if appropriate and test the profile from the viewer’s perspective.
