To move Pokémon from Pokémon HOME into Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, use HOME on the Nintendo Switch console that has the destination game’s save data. Open the game’s Boxes in HOME, place eligible Pokémon in a destination Box, then save. Check each Pokémon’s compatibility in HOME first; not every Pokémon in your collection can travel to either game.
Before you start
- Use the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME for this transfer.
- The Scarlet or Violet save data you want to use must be on the same console where HOME is running. This is especially important if you have moved to another Switch-family console. See Pokémon Support’s Nintendo Switch 2 FAQ.
- If you also use HOME on a phone, sign in with the same Nintendo Account on both versions to access the same Pokémon Boxes; Pokémon Support explains the setup in its account and Boxes guide.
How to move Pokémon into Scarlet or Violet
- Launch Pokémon HOME on the Switch console that has your Scarlet or Violet save.
- From HOME’s main menu, choose Pokémon.
- Select Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, then choose the user whose save data you want to access.
- Check that each Pokémon you plan to move can travel to the selected game. To check on Switch, select the Pokémon, open Check Summary, and press + to view Connected Games.
- Select an eligible Pokémon and the destination Box. Pokémon Support’s connection instructions describe this as: “Select the Pokémon you want to move and the Box to move them to.”
- Choose the save option after arranging the Pokémon. HOME marks Pokémon that cannot be moved to the selected game with an icon above them.
Check whether a specific Pokémon can travel to the game
Compatibility is specific to the Pokémon and the destination game; being stored in HOME does not guarantee that a Pokémon can enter Scarlet or Violet. Use HOME’s current compatibility information rather than relying on a species list that could become outdated.

- On Nintendo Switch: select the Pokémon, open Check Summary, and press + for Connected Games.
- On mobile: open the Pokémon’s details and look under Games it can travel to. A grayed-out game icon means it cannot be used in that game.
Pokémon Support provides these checks in its guide to checking which games a Pokémon can travel to. Because compatibility can change, check in HOME immediately before moving the Pokémon.
What happens to a Pokémon’s moves?
A Pokémon may not keep the same moves when moved into a game where it cannot learn some of its previous moves. HOME assigns it a move set it can learn in the destination software. HOME keeps move sets by linked game; if the Pokémon returns to a game it has visited before, it can regain the last move set it had there. See Pokémon Support’s explanation of move changes.

If the transfer does not work
- The game or save is not available: check that HOME is running on the console that contains the Scarlet or Violet save, and select the correct user and game in HOME.
- A Pokémon is marked as unable to move: check its Connected Games in HOME. If the destination game is grayed out or the Pokémon is marked in the Box view, it cannot be moved to that game at that time.
- You are checking on mobile: mobile HOME can show travel eligibility, but use the Switch version to connect to the Scarlet or Violet save and place Pokémon into its Boxes.
Pokémon Support’s connection guidance discusses Pokémon Bank-to-HOME transfers separately; it does not establish that a Premium subscription is required for a HOME-to-Scarlet-or-Violet transfer.
