First identify where it happens. Then restore the relevant controls and settings; there is no single documented fix for every camera symptom.
First, identify which camera is affected
While editing, the Studio viewport camera moves around the 3D workspace. During playtesting, you may instead be seeing the experience’s player camera, which can be affected by game settings or scripts.

Roblox documents differences among Studio testing modes. If the issue appears only while playing as an avatar, editor-camera preferences are unlikely to be the right place to start.
How do I reset the camera in Roblox Studio?
To re-establish a predictable editor view, focus a visible part and try the basic viewport gestures. Click in the 3D viewport, select a part, then press F to focus it. Drag with the right mouse button to look around; drag with the middle button to pan. The Studio interface guide documents these controls.

- Use WASD and Q/E to move through the 3D view.
- Use Shift with movement keys to adjust movement speed.
- Use the scroll wheel and documented keyboard zoom controls to zoom.
These actions restore familiar navigation and focus; they are not a universal reset command for every possible camera fault.
Why is my Roblox Studio camera moving too fast?
Check the camera speed and shift speed preferences before changing several controls at once. Roblox also documents pan speed, zoom speed, orbit sensitivity, pan sensitivity, zoom-to-mouse, and focus tween behavior in its Studio class reference.

- Open Studio Settings and search for the relevant term, such as “camera” or “speed.” Roblox’s setup guide describes searching settings by keyword.
- Adjust one relevant setting, such as camera speed or orbit sensitivity.
- Try the same viewport movement again before changing another setting.
Changing one value at a time makes it easier to identify which preference affected the behavior. The documented settings are options to inspect, not proof that a particular one caused the problem.
Could the navigation model explain unexpected movement?
Studio supports the default Roblox camera navigation model and IndustryCompatible. They differ in zoom and movement behavior, so switching may help if the controls feel unfamiliar rather than broken.

Roblox describes these distinctions in its CameraNavigationModel reference. If a familiar gesture suddenly feels different, check which model is selected before treating the difference as a malfunction.
Why won’t my Roblox Studio camera zoom or move?
Confirm that the viewport has focus and that your input device exposes the controls you are trying to use. Right-button drag, middle-button drag, and scroll-wheel zoom require those inputs; a trackpad or limited-button device may not provide them in the same way.

Roblox recommends a two-button mouse with a scroll wheel to make navigating 3D space easier. That is an input recommendation, not evidence that a mouse will fix a software defect. If you already have the required buttons and wheel, check viewport focus and the selected navigation model, then test a basic movement and zoom gesture.

If the camera issue occurs in the experience while controlling an avatar, investigate that experience’s player-camera setup instead of changing editor navigation preferences. Roblox’s camera customization documentation covers player camera behavior, including StarterPlayer properties, camera modes, occlusion, movement modes, and scriptable camera behavior.

A custom LocalScript or StarterPlayer camera setting is relevant only when the symptom belongs to the experience camera. It is not a general remedy for an editor viewport that moves or zooms unexpectedly.
Check for a Studio update, then gather details if the issue remains
Roblox’s setup guide explains that Studio may show an Update button when an update is available. Checking for an update is a general maintenance step, not a camera-specific fix.
If the behavior persists, record the exact symptom and the conditions in which it occurs. Include:
- Studio version and operating system.
- Input device and the controls you tried.
- Selected camera navigation model.
- Whether it happens in the editor, Run, or an avatar playtest such as Test, Test Here, or Client mode.
Those details help distinguish a viewport-control issue from an experience-camera issue; the symptom alone does not establish a cause.
