If Punishing: Gray Raven crashes, stutters, gets stuck loading, or shows a connection error, first check for an official game notice or pending update. Then compare the affected device with its platform requirements and isolate whether the symptom follows the device, the network, or the game client. These checks help narrow down the cause; they are not guaranteed fixes.
Start with updates and service notices
Before changing device settings, check Punishing: Gray Raven’s official site for game news and confirm that the app or PC client is current through the store or launcher you use. A notice may help explain a problem that looks like a local connection fault. The official site is a place to check announcements, not a live incident-status guarantee.
If the trouble began right after an update, note the game version, when it started, and the exact screen or error where it fails. That gives you a useful baseline before attempting changes that could remove local data or require a large download.
Check whether your device meets its platform requirements
Requirements differ by platform and region. Store listings can also change, so check the listing available in your territory for the current details.

| Platform | Published requirements or storage details | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Windows / Steam | Steam lists Windows 10 64-bit, Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870, DirectX 11, broadband internet, and 50 GB available space as minimum requirements. The recommended configuration lists 16 GB RAM and requires SSD storage; Steam’s minimum notes recommend an SSD but support an HDD. | Compare your PC with the Steam listing, and check actual free disk space and drive type. These published specifications are not a guarantee of smooth play on every PC. |
| Android | The Japanese Google Play listing, updated August 3, 2026, specifies Android 8.1 or newer, at least 3 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM, and example minimum chipsets Snapdragon 665, Kirin 960, Exynos 9810, and Helio G70. | Use your own local Google Play listing to check current, region-specific compatibility. The cited hardware figures are from Japan’s listing, not a universal specification. |
| iPhone / iPad | The US App Store listing states iOS 13.0 or later and an app size of 4 GB. | Check the App Store listing for your region and the device’s actual free space. The listed app size does not mean 4 GB free will necessarily cover an update or temporary files. |
For Steam loading or storage trouble, the SSD recommendation is relevant to the PC version; an internal SSD for a gaming PC is a possible storage upgrade to consider if your system still uses an HDD and otherwise suits the game. It is not a general remedy for crashes, online errors, or every kind of lag.
If PGR crashes or will not launch
- Check for a notice and update. Review the official site and install any available game update from your platform’s store or launcher.
- Compare requirements. Check the relevant platform listing above, including operating-system compatibility and storage. On a PC, compare your hardware with Steam’s published minimum and recommended configurations.
- Restart and retry once. Restart the device, open the game again, and note the point where it fails. This is a cautious diagnostic check, not a Kuro-published fix procedure.
- Protect your account before disruptive changes. Before clearing app data or reinstalling, confirm you can access the account and have enough free storage for a fresh download. The sources cited here do not establish either action as a specific Kuro-approved fix.
If PGR is lagging, identify what “lag” means
Low or choppy frame rate, a long loading screen, and delayed online response are different symptoms. Treat them separately rather than applying a graphics change to a connection problem.

Choppy frame rate or visible stutter
As a comparison, lower the graphics settings and close other demanding applications, then see whether frame pacing changes. These are general diagnostic checks, not settings Kuro has documented as a universal fix. There is no established best graphics preset for every device.
If you play through BlueStacks, its BlueStacks 5 high-graphics guide covers that emulator specifically. It is third-party emulator guidance, not an official PGR troubleshooting procedure, and should not be applied as though it covers the official PC client or every emulator.

Long loading on Steam
Check available disk space and whether the game is on an SSD or HDD against Steam’s published storage guidance. That comparison concerns PC storage and loading; it does not diagnose an online connection fault.
If you see a connection error or get stuck loading
- Check official news and the client version. A service or update issue can resemble a fault with your own connection. Check the official site and make sure the client is current.
- Compare another available network. If the problem changes when you use a different network, note that result. It can help support distinguish a network-dependent symptom from one that follows the device or client.
- Check device compatibility. Confirm that the operating system and device meet the requirements on your platform’s current regional listing.
- Record the error and time. If the problem persists, capture the exact message, when it occurred, and whether it happens on more than one network or session.
Steam lists broadband internet, but the cited platform listings do not publish a PGR-specific bandwidth, latency, port, or DNS requirement. The available sources do not validate VPNs, DNS changes, disabling firewalls, or buying router equipment as guaranteed PGR fixes, so avoid treating them as established solutions.
