Current FramePort is a tool for preparing games made for Meta Quest, Android, or PCVR to run on Valve Steam Frame. It is not documented as a way to run Steam Frame games on a Quest headset. If you mean a game running directly on Quest, skip to native Quest troubleshooting; that is a separate process.
For FramePort, first determine whether Steam Frame is not connecting, one game fails, or the game launches with the wrong display or input behavior. Those symptoms lead to different fixes. FramePort also requires you to provide legally obtained game files; it does not download, share, or unlock games. Read the FramePort project README for the project’s current scope and documentation.

Identify what is failing before changing settings
Record the game title and source build, FramePort and Steam Frame software versions, computer operating system, exact error, and relevant launch-log lines. Note whether other games still launch. Then classify the problem:

- One title installs but will not start: check that game’s recipe and the symptom-specific playbook.
- The title opens in a flat window, loses focus, or has broken input: treat it as a display, runtime, or focus problem rather than a connection failure.
- The game works on Quest but fails through FramePort: the ported configuration is a separate environment; native Quest success does not prove the FramePort recipe is supported.
FramePort’s project documentation distinguishes setup from per-game troubleshooting; use its installation guide and troubleshooting playbook alongside the game’s own page.

If FramePort cannot connect to Steam Frame
The documented setup assumes the computer and Steam Frame are on the same network. Keep FramePort open while completing the setup or pairing flow.
- In FramePort, open the Steam Frame page and select Show setup command.
- On Steam Frame, open SteamVR dashboard → Launch a program → Desktop, then open Konsole from the desktop.
- Enter the command exactly as FramePort displays it. FramePort says it should connect automatically after Steam restarts.
There is also an alternate setup path: enable Developer Mode in Frame settings, pair a new host, and approve the connection. If the command times out, the installation guide says the computer firewall may be blocking the Frame; the setup page identifies the relevant firewall after roughly 45 seconds. Follow the project’s firewall instructions rather than disabling the firewall wholesale. FramePort installation guide

If one game installs but will not launch
Check whether the game has a tested recipe
Open the game’s FramePort page and check the project’s tested-games list. Tested games receive their best-known configuration automatically. For games without a tested configuration, FramePort may guess likely patches, so support for one Quest game does not establish that all Quest games will work.

Match the remedy to the error
Do not apply every available patch at once. The playbook describes several distinct cases, each tied to a specific symptom:
- An Android manifest without the
LAUNCHERcategory can prevent the app activity from starting; the playbook gives the relevant patch path. - Some PCVR launch failures involve an OpenXR API-version mismatch; use the playbook’s remedy for the reported mismatch.
- Some Oculus-only PCVR cases depend on Revive or on a running SteamVR runtime. Check the applicable playbook instructions rather than treating either as a universal requirement.
These are FramePort-specific diagnoses, not general fixes for Quest games. Use the matching game page and log evidence to decide which applies. FramePort troubleshooting playbook

If every game fails, check for a Frame-wide issue
One advanced case in the playbook affects every game: rootless Podman can leak a kernel keyring on each launch until a key quota is exhausted. The documented error clues include Disk quota exceeded and is not a running context.
Only if those symptoms match, consult the project’s instructions for setting keyring = false in ~/.config/containers/containers.conf and rebooting the Frame once. FramePort says its agent handles this setting. This is not a first-line fix for a single title that will not launch. FramePort troubleshooting playbook
Report a failure the recipe does not solve
FramePort’s game menu includes Report a problem…. The installation guide says the resulting diagnostic archive includes logs, the recipe, and device details, with personal data such as IP addresses, user names, home folders, and Steam IDs replaced. Use that report when the title’s documented recipe and symptom-specific guidance do not resolve the problem; reporting does not guarantee a fix.
If you have a configuration that works, the README describes Share working config… as a way to share it with the project. Use the FramePort menu and current project documentation for these options. FramePort installation guide and README
If you meant a game running directly on Meta Quest
Native Quest launch problems are not FramePort-on-Steam-Frame problems. In a Meta community support thread, Meta support asks whether all apps or only selected ones fail, whether the app came from the official Meta store, whether the headset is current, whether another Wi-Fi network changes the result, and whether Home itself is affected. The thread also includes hard-reboot instructions; follow the support discussion for that separate workflow. Meta community support discussion

Horizon OS compatibility mode is also not an explanation for a FramePort failure. Meta’s developer documentation says the mode uses an app’s com.oculus.supportedDevices manifest entry to select a compatibility model when the app launches on a device it does not list. It can change selected API-reported device information, but “Compatibility mode does not change CPU or GPU speed.” Meta Horizon OS compatibility documentation
Some launch advice is specific to a particular publisher’s game. For example, Square Enix Support says players of its Quest game should wait up to three minutes while data loads on an initial launch or the first launch after a Horizon OS firmware update. That is not a general timeout rule for other Quest titles or FramePort games. Square Enix Support
