On PlayStation and Xbox consoles, open Options → Settings → Account & Network, then set the crossplay option for the mode you want to Off. Choose On (Console Only) instead if you want to exclude PC players but still match with other console platforms. On PC, the steps depend on whether you play through the Xbox app, Steam, or Battle.net.
Turn off crossplay on PlayStation or Xbox consoles
- Open Options.
- Go to Settings → Account & Network.
- Find the setting for the mode you want to change: Multiplayer Unranked Crossplay or Ranked Crossplay.
- Select Off to match only with players on your current gaming platform. Select On (Console Only) to allow other console platforms but exclude PC, or On to include other gaming platforms.
Activision warns that restricting the matchmaking pool may negatively affect matchmaking quality, and that Off will negatively affect it. The support guidance does not quantify the effect on queue time or match quality for an individual player. Activision’s crossplay and cross-progression support page, dated 04/03/25, lists these console options.

Xbox console setting can override the in-game choice
On Xbox consoles, the console-level cross-network play setting takes priority over the in-game setting. If changing the in-game option appears to have no effect, review the console’s cross-network play setting as well. Activision documents this priority in its support instructions.
Change crossplay on the Xbox PC app or Microsoft Store version
Activision says this version has no in-game crossplay control. Change the privacy setting in the Xbox PC app instead:

- Select your Gamertag at the top of the Xbox app and choose Settings.
- On the Account tab, scroll to Privacy settings and select Manage.
- On the right, open the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 devices Online Safety tab.
- Set You can join cross-network play to Block.
- Select Submit.

Steam and Battle.net: crossplay cannot be disabled
Activision’s current support guidance says players using the Steam or Battle.net versions cannot disable crossplay. The console menu instructions do not apply to those PC versions.

Choose the setting for each mode
The console choices determine which platforms can enter the matchmaking pool. Activision lists separate settings for Multiplayer Unranked and console Ranked, so changing one should not be treated as a universal switch for every mode or Call of Duty game.

How crossplay settings work in Ranked parties
In its January 2025 Season 02 patch notes, Activision described how Ranked parties on one console platform handle different preferred settings. If a player who chose Cross-Play Off joins a party that includes a different console platform, the party setting temporarily becomes Cross-Play On (Consoles Only). If the party includes a PC player, it temporarily becomes Cross-Play On. The player’s preferred setting is restored when the mixed-platform party disbands. Activision also warns that adjusting crossplay may negatively affect queue times.

The same January 2025 notes listed a known issue in which Console Only and Off could reset when the game relaunched. That is a historical issue report from that update, not confirmation that the problem remains current.

Crossplay controls which platforms can be matched together; cross-progression is the transfer of progress across platforms linked to the same Activision account. Activision says crossplay enables cross-progression, including across console generations. Its support page does not say that turning off matchmaking crossplay deletes progress, so do not treat the matchmaking option as an account reset.
