There is no universal base-game switch documented by EA for turning off all autonomous mean socials. If you use the MC Command Center mod, a community-reported route is available through its MC Tuner menu, but the instruction dates to 2022 and may vary by version. EA’s 2026 notes also point to the Vicious Dynasty Ideal as a possible cause in some saves, not a complete explanation for every case.
Use MC Command Center to disable autonomous mean socials

- Choose Change interaction autonomy.
- Select Autonomous Mean, then Disable.

What EA says about random mean interactions
In its May 5, 2026 Laundry List, The Sims Team said it had begun investigating reports of autonomous insulting or mean interactions after patch 1.108.349. The team added that recent player-submitted saves made the behavior look “As Designed,” caused by the Vicious Dynasty Ideal, while also saying it would continue investigating. That is an interim statement about the saves reviewed, not a confirmed explanation for every player’s experience. EA’s May 2026 Laundry List

Do other autonomy settings stop mean socials?
Not according to the cited EA material. The Dislikes Phones and Dislikes Computers preferences prevent autonomous use of those objects; EA does not describe them as controlling mean socials. Likewise, the September update’s changes for Sims with awful compatibility and Difficult or Distant Family Dynamics concern those specific relationship patterns—not a general control for mean interactions. Neighborhood Stories is a separate system for household-level controls over Neighbor Sims’ autonomous life changes. EA’s description does not establish it as a way to stop mean interactions during active conversations. EA’s Neighborhood Stories announcement

If you do not use mods, the official sources cited here do not provide a confirmed way to disable all autonomous mean socials. If the behavior started after adding the Vicious Dynasty Ideal, EA’s May 2026 statement makes that a relevant factor to consider, but does not establish it as the cause in every save.
