To turn on WickedWhims, enable both mod settings in The Sims 4: go to Game Options > Other, check Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed, then select Apply Changes and restart the game. The mod’s files must also be installed in the game’s Mods folder.
Enable the settings and restart The Sims 4
- Start The Sims 4 and open Options > Game Options > Other. The official WickedWhims guide uses this menu path: WickedWhims Mod Installation.
- Check Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed.
- Select Apply Changes, close the game, and launch it again. The change does not take effect until the game restarts; WickedWhims documentation says, “Enabling mods requires turning the game off and on to take effect.”
Both settings are needed for WickedWhims. EA describes mods, also called custom content, as additions made by others in The Sims community rather than by Maxis; its general installation help covers PC and Mac: EA’s Sims 4 mod installation help.
Check that WickedWhims is installed in the right place
Enabling mods will not load WickedWhims if its files are not installed correctly. The official installation guide says to put the WickedWhimsMod folder directly inside The Sims 4 Mods folder. Do not place the ZIP archive itself there, or nest the mod folder inside another folder.
If WickedWhims still does not appear
- Recheck both settings. Confirm that custom content/mods and script mods are both enabled in Game Options > Other.
- Verify the folder placement. Make sure the extracted WickedWhimsMod folder is directly in the game’s Mods folder.
- Restart the game. If you changed a setting or moved files while the game was open, close and relaunch it.
- Check the loaded mod list. WickedWhims troubleshooting says the expected entries are
TURBODRIVER_WickedWhims_TuningandTURBODRIVER_WickedWhims_Scripts. If they are missing, treat it as an installation issue: remove existing copies and install the mod fresh, following the official WickedWhims troubleshooting guide.
After a Sims 4 update
A game patch can turn mod settings off. After updating The Sims 4, revisit Game Options > Other, enable both settings if needed, select Apply Changes, and restart the game before checking whether WickedWhims loads.
