To reinstall Fortnite, first remove it using your platform’s game-management menu, then download it again through Epic Games Launcher on PC or the relevant console store. Your Fortnite progress and items are tied to your Epic Games account, so sign in with the same linked account after reinstalling.

Uninstall and reinstall Fortnite on PC

Use Epic Games Launcher to remove Fortnite. To install it again, either select its tile in your Library or find it in the Store.

  1. Uninstall: Open Epic Games Launcher and select Library.
  2. Find Fortnite, open its three-dot menu, and select Uninstall. Epic’s PC uninstall instructions cover this menu path.
  3. Reinstall from Library: After uninstalling, select the Fortnite tile and follow the installation prompts.
  4. Reinstall from the Store: In the launcher, select Store, search for Fortnite, open its game tile, and select GET. Then go to Library, choose Fortnite, select an install location, and select Install. See Epic’s launcher installation guide.

Uninstall and reinstall Fortnite on PlayStation

  1. On the console’s main menu, highlight Fortnite, press the controller’s Options button, and select Delete.
  2. Download Fortnite again using the PlayStation instructions linked from Epic’s console troubleshooting page.

Uninstall and reinstall Fortnite on Xbox Series X|S

  1. From Home, open My Games & Apps, then Games.
  2. Highlight Fortnite, press the controller’s Menu button, and select Uninstall.
  3. Use the Xbox download instructions linked from Epic’s console troubleshooting page to install it again.

Uninstall and reinstall Fortnite on Nintendo Switch

  1. Highlight Fortnite and press + on the Joy-Con.
  2. Select Manage Software, then Delete Software. Epic’s instructions also describe this as Manage Software > Delete program.
  3. Download Fortnite again using the Nintendo Switch instructions linked from Epic’s console troubleshooting page.

Use the same Epic Games account after reinstalling

Epic says Fortnite data, progress, and items are stored in your Epic Games account rather than on the device. Progress and purchased content are accessible across platforms when the platform accounts are linked to the same Epic account, subject to Epic’s stated V-Bucks exception. After reinstalling, sign in to the Epic account linked to the platform account you used before removing Fortnite. See Epic’s account-linking guidance.

If you’re reinstalling to fix a problem

Reinstalling is one troubleshooting option; it does not establish that every crash or error comes from a damaged installation. Epic also recommends checking for Fortnite updates, checking for system updates on the console, and clearing the platform cache. If an error message appears, search Epic’s Help Center for that exact message because its fix may be specific. The steps and support links are collected on Epic’s console troubleshooting page.
