To disconnect a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, sign in to the Epic Games account it is linked to, open Account settings → Linked accounts, choose Unlink beneath PlayStation, and follow the prompts. If you want to connect a different PSN account, you may also have to remove Epic’s same-platform linking restriction; unlinking alone does not remove it.
First identify the Epic account linked to the PSN account
Use the Epic account that currently holds the PlayStation connection and the game data you want to keep accessing. The email address associated with PSN may be different from the email on the Epic account, so do not assume matching emails mean matching accounts.
- Sign out of the Epic Games website.
- Choose the PlayStation sign-in option and enter the credentials for the PSN account in question. Epic says this can reveal the Epic account associated with that PSN account. Epic’s account-identification guidance
- Confirm you are signed in to the Epic account that contains the progress or purchases you intend to preserve access to. If prompted, verify its email address before continuing.
Unlink the current PSN account
- While signed in to the correct Epic account, open Account settings.
- Select Linked accounts.
- Find PlayStation and select Unlink, then complete the confirmation prompts. Epic’s console unlinking instructions describe this process.
Stop here if your goal is only to disconnect the PSN account. If you are replacing it with another PSN account, continue below.
Connect a different PSN account
Epic may still block a different PlayStation account of the same platform type after you unlink the original one. In that case, use Epic’s restriction-removal flow, then return to Linked accounts and choose the PlayStation link option to sign in with the intended PSN account. Verify the PSN account carefully before confirming.

Epic limits removal of this same-platform restriction to once every 365 days. Unlinking does not reset that interval or guarantee an exception. If the restriction-removal flow is unavailable, follow the instructions shown in your Epic account or contact Epic Support rather than attempting to bypass it. Check game data and subscriptions before unlinking
- Fortnite and Fall Guys: Epic says progress and purchases are stored on the Epic account. The unlinked console loses access to that account’s progress and purchases, although the data remains on the Epic account. Launching Fortnite on the disconnected console can result in Epic creating a new, empty Epic account for it.
- Rocket League: Epic warns that unlinking the account where progress is stored—typically the device or console used most—can reset that account’s inventory and XP level. Identify the account holding your progress before unlinking.
- Fortnite Crew: If the platform account you plan to remove has an active Crew subscription, Epic advises canceling it first. Epic says no new Crew rewards will be granted to the Epic account after unlinking.
These effects are reasons to verify the account connection before confirming. Epic’s unlinking guidance details the game-specific warnings.

If you cannot access the Epic account or see an unfamiliar PSN
You cannot access the Epic account email
Use Epic’s account recovery process if you cannot access the email associated with the Epic account. Avoid unlinking a connection until you have identified which Epic account contains the game data you need.
An unfamiliar platform account is linked
If you find a PSN account you do not recognize, Epic’s troubleshooting guidance recommends removing it if possible, contacting support, and securing your Epic account. Use Epic’s unfamiliar linked-account guidance for the next steps.
