Unlink Steam from Battle.net
- Sign in to Battle.net Account Management.
- Open Connections.
- Find Steam in the list of connected accounts and select Disconnect.
- Read the warning, including any cooldown duration shown, before confirming the disconnection.
Blizzard’s support index identifies its “Linked the Wrong Third Party Platform Account to Battle.net Account” article as covering Steam, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and Nintendo Switch. The account-management page is where Blizzard directs users to disconnect a linked platform account.

Check for a cooldown before confirming
Blizzard says account links can have cooldowns that limit how often they can be changed. If one applies, Account Management displays the duration; the available guidance does not give a fixed Steam-specific period. Blizzard Support says it cannot bypass an applicable cooldown. The current warning shown in your account is the relevant guide to whether you can disconnect now.
If Steam will not link in the first place
An unsuccessful attempt to connect Steam and Battle.net is different from unlinking an account that is already connected. For an Overwatch 2 linking error, Blizzard’s separate troubleshooting instructions say to launch Overwatch 2 from Steam, choose Open Browser when the Battle.net account prompt appears, and follow the connection instructions. This is a linking flow, not a way to disconnect an existing account.

The cited Blizzard unlinking guidance does not explain what disconnecting Steam does to particular games’ progress, licenses, purchases, or access. Do not assume that data or purchases transfer, disappear, or become available again after relinking. If any of those outcomes matters to you, check the support guidance for the specific game before disconnecting.
