A community-maintained LEGO Games Wiki says Gwenpool takes Deadpool’s role in the sequel; the sequel’s official manual explains character tokens and Gwenpool missions but does not give a Deadpool unlock method. The available official sources do not explicitly confirm that Deadpool is absent, so treat this as a likely title mix-up—not a definitive official roster statement.
Can you unlock Deadpool in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2?
No Deadpool unlock method is documented in the sequel’s official manual. The manual explains that characters unlock as you progress and that some require character tokens, but it does not identify a Deadpool token or mission. The LEGO Games Wiki’s Deadpool page lists the original LEGO Marvel Super Heroes as an appearance and says Gwenpool replaces Deadpool’s role in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. That is secondary, community-maintained information, not an official statement that Deadpool is absent.

If you are following instructions about collecting Deadpool bricks, check that they are for the original LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, not its sequel. The games are distinct, and those instructions do not establish an unlock path in the second game.
What the sequel’s manual says about unlocking characters
Feral Interactive’s official game manual describes the general unlock system: “Some characters can only be unlocked by collecting character tokens which can be found throughout the game.” It does not say that Deadpool is one of those characters.

The manual also says that Free Play lets you switch among characters you have already unlocked. Free Play is therefore a way to use available characters, not a method to unlock a character that is unavailable.
How Gwenpool fits into LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2
The sequel manual connects Gwenpool to optional side-missions and pink bricks: some pink bricks can be purchased from her in Avengers Mansion, while others are earned by completing her side-missions. It describes gold bricks separately as rewards for progress and hidden collectibles. These Gwenpool activities should not be confused with Deadpool-brick instructions for the first game.

- LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: This is the original game, listed separately from the sequel by the community-maintained LEGO Games Wiki’s Deadpool page, which associates Deadpool’s appearance with the original and Gwenpool’s role with the sequel.
The Steam page names example heroes and villains, but it is not presented as a complete roster. The official sources cited here likewise do not provide a complete roster or an explicit statement that Deadpool cannot be unlocked in the sequel.
