To unlock the other nine named classes, complete the relevant progression area and then speak with Butch. The area sequence below follows PC Gamer’s guide, updated February 12, 2026; a Steam Community guide differs on some area names and on the Cleric unlock point, so treat those details as a reported walkthrough rather than a developer-confirmed checklist.

Progression-unlocked classes
PC Gamer’s February 12, 2026 guide associates each of the following nine classes with completing an area and talking to Butch afterward. The Steam Community guide also says to visit Butch after zone objectives, but its labels and Cleric condition do not fully match PC Gamer’s list.

| Class | Reported unlock requirement |
|---|---|
| Cleric | Complete the Alley, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
| Thief | Complete the Sewer, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
| Necromancer | Complete the Junkyard, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
| Tinkerer | Complete the Shelter, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
| Druid | Complete The Crater, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
| Butcher | Complete The Core, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
| Psychic | Complete The Moon, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
| Monk | Complete The Lab, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
| Jester | Complete The Rift, then talk to Butch (PC Gamer). |
The Steam Community guide calls the Sewer area “The Sewers,” the Junkyard “The Boneyard,” and the Shelter “The Bunker.” It places Cleric at reaching The Sewers for the first time, while PC Gamer places Cleric after completing the Alley. Both guides identify Butch as part of the unlock process. They do not establish whether the differences reflect changed terminology, a revision, or an error.

After completing an area
Once you meet the reported area condition, find Butch and speak with him to trigger the class unlock. The Steam Community guide says Butch can be visited by opening the map. If an unlock does not appear, check that you have completed the area objective and have returned to talk to Butch.
Does Collarless count as a class?
PC Gamer describes Collarless as a technical fourteenth class-like option, separate from the 13 named classes above. A cat without a collar has no collar-specific stat modifiers or class effects. Collarless play can unlock universal skills that collared cats can use, but PC Gamer does not give Collarless a separate area-and-Butch unlock step.
