To complete it, collect the Maiden’s Soul, Hermit’s Soul, Seeker’s Soul, and Snare Setter, deliver them to the Caretaker, and choose to play the Needolin at the final prompt in the Cradle. That choice opens Act 3 and affects which other endings remain available on the save profile.
Requirements to unlock Silk and Soul
The Hollow Knight Wiki’s detailed requirement list, checked in 2026, names six prerequisite Wishes, two items, two progression conditions, and a threshold of 17 quest points out of 25 possible. The wiki attributes the explicit requirements to the game’s quest-system data, but this is community-maintained guidance rather than an official developer checklist. Hollow Knight Wiki

- Complete these six Wishes: Flexile Spines, A Lifesaving Bridge, Crawbug Clearing, Strengthening Songclave, Trail’s End, and Balm for the Wounded.
- Obtain the Faydown Cloak and Bellhome Key.
- Move the Flea Caravan to Fleatopia.
- Defeat Lace in the Cradle.
- Reach at least 17 quest points. The wiki reports 25 possible points in total: 22 from normal Wishes and 3 from six delivery Wishes. Delivery Wishes award points only on their first completion.
When these conditions are met, accept Silk and Soul at the Bellhart Wishwall or by speaking to the Caretaker in Songclave.

Guide checklists do not align perfectly. PC Gamer says players do not need every Wish, every flea, every town quest, or a victory over the final boss before acquiring Silk and Soul. Nintendo Life offers a broader practical checklist and notes that the precise requirements have been debated. If the Wish does not appear after you believe you have met the listed conditions, use extra progress as a fallback: complete more Wishwall quests in Bone Bottom, Bellhart, and Songclave, and rescue additional fleas. PC Gamer also recommends moving the caravan to Pale Lake in the Putrified Ducts and collecting the Architect, Conductor, and Vaultkeeper melodies for access to the final boss. Those are broader progression suggestions, not established additions to the minimum unlock list.
Where to find the four Soul Snare components
The Wish requires four components. Collect each one, then take the set to the Caretaker.

- Maiden’s Soul: Speak with the Chapel Maid in Bone Bottom. From the Bellway, head left to find her.
- Hermit’s Soul: Find the Bell Hermit in the hidden tunnels beneath Bellhart. Enter through a hidden wall from the Bellhart Bellway, descend, and head left.
- Seeker’s Soul: Defeat Groal the Great in Bilewater, then search the hut behind his arena in Bilehaven. The guides agree on the boss gate and nearby location, though descriptions differ on the precise object or remains holding the soul. PC Gamer’s Seeker’s Soul guide
- Snare Setter: Search the hidden workshop in Weavenest Atla, in Moss Grove. The route described by PC Gamer goes through a bug-faced door opened with the Needolin, then up a hidden passage near the lift. PC Gamer’s Snare Setter guide
After delivering all four items to the Caretaker, the objective changes: return to the Cradle and destroy the Soul Snare by ascending it again.

- Return to the Cradle after the Caretaker assembles the Soul Snare.
- Fight Grand Mother Silk again. The encounter is described as otherwise unchanged.
- At the finishing prompt, choose to play the Needolin rather than bind Grand Mother Silk.
Playing the Needolin ensnares her, completes the Snared Silk outcome, awards the Snared Silk achievement, and opens Act 3. Choosing to bind her instead does not trigger that outcome.

Ending consequences to consider first
This is a consequential save-profile choice, not just a way to finish the Wish. The Hollow Knight Wiki says selecting Snared Silk permanently locks out the Weaver Queen and Twisted Child endings on that save profile. Nintendo Life additionally warns that entering Act 3 without cursing Hornet locks out Twisted Child. Consider those outcomes before selecting the Needolin prompt. Hollow Knight Wiki · Nintendo Life
