SEGA has announced the paid Avatar Legends Pack for October 14, 2026, but an announced date is not proof that the DLC has unlocked on every platform or in every region. To use either character, you need the base game and access to the Avatar Legends Pack, either directly or through the Season Pass.
The pack is scheduled to add Aang, Katara, the Gliding Air machine and the Lion Turtle Island course. The official listings available before launch do not document the in-game installation process or the menu used to select the racers, so any guide claiming exact button presses before a post-release source appears is speculative.

Is Aang and Katara DLC in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds?
Yes. Aang and Katara are part of the paid Avatar Legends Pack, a crossover add-on for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. SEGA announced the pack on October 8, 2026, with a scheduled release date of October 14, 2026. Read the announcement at SEGA’s official news page.
That timing matters if you are trying to unlock the characters immediately. Store pages can update at different times by platform and region, and the announcement itself does not confirm that the content is already downloadable everywhere. Before buying or troubleshooting, check the current listing for your platform rather than relying on an older screenshot, video or article.

What you need to unlock Aang and Katara
There are two requirements: the base game and a licence for the crossover content. The Season Pass requires the base game, according to its Steam listing. SEGA’s purchase guide explains that the Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass and that the pass unlocks crossover characters, courses and machines as they release.
- Base game: You must own Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. A Season Pass by itself is not a substitute for the game.
- Avatar Legends access: Buy the Avatar Legends Pack when your platform offers it, or use a Season Pass that includes the pack.
- Correct platform and region: Separate DLC listings and release timing can vary. Confirm the edition and store region shown on your own account.
SEGA says collaboration DLC can be purchased separately, while the Digital Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with the Season Pass. The practical choice depends on what you already own and what your regional store currently sells.

What is included in the Avatar Legends Pack?
The announced content is broader than two character skins. The pack listings identify four pieces of content:

- Identify your edition. Look at your platform account’s purchase history or library entry and note whether you own the base game, Digital Deluxe Edition, Season Pass or only a different add-on.
- Open the current store listing. Search for “Avatar Legends Pack” or the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Season Pass on the platform where you play. Confirm that the listing is for your platform and region.
- Check the entitlement description. The listing should identify the Avatar Legends content or the Season Pass that contains it. Do not assume that a similarly named racing-game add-on includes this pack.
- Install any available game or DLC update. Use your platform’s normal library or add-on management controls. The consulted official pages do not specify a unique CrossWorlds installation command or an in-game download screen.
- Keep the account that owns the content available. If the store shows a purchase on a different account or platform, resolve that ownership mismatch through the platform before expecting the racers to appear.
The final step is intentionally platform-neutral. SEGA had not published the exact post-release menu path at the latest confirmed information, so a precise sequence such as “open this tab, then press this button” would be guesswork.
How to play as Aang or Katara after the pack is available
Once your store confirms the pack is released and installed, use this verification sequence:
- Start Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on the same platform that owns the game and DLC.
- Check the game’s racer roster for Aang and Katara. Their appearance in the roster is the useful confirmation that the entitlement has been recognized.
- Select the character through the roster interface provided by your current game version, then choose a race or mode as normal.
- If neither character is listed, close and relaunch the game after confirming that the Avatar Legends add-on is installed. If the store still shows the content as unavailable, wait for the regional release window or contact the platform and SEGA support.
These steps describe what to verify, not a claim about a particular menu label. The official announcement, purchase guide and store pages reviewed before release do not identify the exact character-selection screen. That information should come from a post-release SEGA support article or the game itself.

Do you need the Season Pass to play as Aang?
No. The Season Pass is one access route, not the only one. If your platform sells the Avatar Legends Pack separately, you can obtain that pack with the base game instead. SEGA’s purchase guide says collaboration DLC can be bought separately, but the exact standalone listing is subject to platform and region.
You do need the base game either way. The Season Pass store description explicitly lists the base-game requirement, and buying a pass without owning Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will not provide a standalone game to launch.

Why Aang or Katara might not appear
The announced release time has not reached your store
A scheduled date is not the same as a simultaneous worldwide unlock. Check the platform’s live product page and your local time zone. If the page still shows a future release or does not offer the pack, there may be nothing wrong with your installation.

You own the base game but not the crossover entitlement
The standard game alone does not include every later collaboration. Verify that your library shows either the Avatar Legends Pack or a Season Pass that contains it.
You bought a pass but the base game is missing
The pass listing requires the base game. Add the game to the same platform account or choose an edition that bundles both.
The store and game disagree about ownership
First confirm that the purchase completed and that the add-on is listed as owned or installed in the platform library. If the entitlement remains absent after the release window, use the platform’s purchase-support process; do not buy the pack again until ownership is resolved.

You are following an unverified menu guide
Pre-release pages do not establish the exact installation or character-selection path. Treat videos or posts that name specific menus before an official post-release explanation as unofficial, especially if their screenshots come from another platform or an earlier build.
What SEGA has officially promised
SEGA’s purchase guide summarizes the Season Pass this way: “With the Season Pass, you’ll unlock crossover characters, courses, and machines when they come out!” That wording describes the pass’s function, but it does not promise a particular unlock button, release hour or region-wide launch time.
For the Avatar Legends release specifically, the confirmed takeaways are limited and clear: it is paid DLC; Aang and Katara are playable racers; Gliding Air and Lion Turtle Island are included; and the base game is required. Wait for an official post-release support page or the live game interface for exact installation and selection instructions.
