Super Mario Party Jamboree has 22 playable characters and seven boards. To complete the roster, find Pauline and Ninji from the Party Plaza hot-air-balloon view. Three boards unlock as you reach Silver, Gold, and Diamond Player Rank; a secondary guide also reports that finishing one Mario Party game unlocks Pro Rules and minigame voting.
Unlock Pauline and Ninji
Nintendo lists Pauline and Ninji among the game’s 22 playable characters, but a guide updated September 13, 2026 reports that they are the two characters you must find to complete the initially available roster. Their locations come from that guide rather than an official Nintendo unlock page.

- From Party Plaza, use the hot-air-balloon view to look over the surrounding islands.
- Move the camera with the left stick and zoom in to inspect the islands. Pauline is on a small sandbar to the left of Minigame Bay; Ninji is on the larger island behind Rhythm Kitchen.
- Interact with each character to recruit them.
Unlock the three rank-gated boards
Nintendo’s official board unlock requirements are based on Player Rank. Progress through the game to raise your rank; Nintendo identifies the rank needed for each board but does not specify a definitive achievement count for reaching it.
| Board | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Western Land | Reach Silver Player Rank. |
| Mario’s Rainbow Castle | Reach Gold Player Rank. |
| King Bowser’s Keep | Reach Diamond Player Rank. |
These rank thresholds are from Nintendo’s official game page. Although secondary guides describe achievements as the way to build rank, their reported counts conflict, so use the named rank—not a claimed achievement total—as the reliable target.
#1 Best Overall
- Get ready for the biggest party yet in Super Mario Party Jamboree for Nintendo Switch. From running through merry-go-rounds to motion-control minigolf, this jamboree is jam-packed with over 110 minigames – the most of any Mario Party game to date!
- With seven boards in all, you can go with the flow in Goomba Lagoon, search for stars in Rainbow Galleria, revisit the classics of Western Land and Mario’s Rainbow Castle from past titles and more.
- Race across the party board in Koopathlon, a series-first 20-player online competition to see who can rack up the highest scores in minigames like the fast-paced Lane Change. The higher your score in each round, the faster you’ll get to the goal. Koopathlon is just one of a slew of additional modes – there’s something for every kind of Mario Party player to enjoy!
Unlock Pro Rules and minigame voting
Nintendo describes Party Rules and Pro Rules as rulesets; Pro Rules reduce the emphasis on luck in favor of skill. A secondary unlock guide reports that completing one Mario Party game on any board unlocks both Pro Rules and minigame voting. Nintendo’s product page does not specify that unlock condition, so treat the one-game requirement as guide-reported.
Optional rewards and other reported unlocks
Separate secondary guides report additional rewards tied to Player Rank, including cards, reactions, points, and music, as well as Classic Bonus Stars at Silver Player Rank. They also list Boss Rush and staff credits among other unlocks. The available official Nintendo material does not confirm all of these conditions, so they are best treated as guide-reported extras rather than part of the verified board or character route.
Rank #2
- This jam-packed jamboree just got even bigger—only on the Nintendo Switch 2 system!
- With 22 playable characters, Pro Rules for more serious competition, and a local single player mode, there’s something for every kind of partygoer!
- Get hands-on with Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive features in Carnival Coaster and Bowser Live
- Take the fun online in Koopathlon and Bowser Kaboom Squad
- Get moving in Rhythm Kitchen, Toad’s Item Factory, and Paratroopa Flight School
One fan guide reports 116 achievements, but Nintendo’s product pages reviewed do not confirm that figure. It is not a dependable substitute for the official rank requirements above.
